Default Shaken and not stirred

Hi,

Would there be any effect on the r jet 5i if the carts where shaken to mix up the colour particles as part of a start up process, especially the white. Does aire bubbles that are generate inside cartridges cause a problem. Or is it more suitable to invert the cartridges gently to promote mixing?

I personally give them a vigorous shake at the start.

But what do I know. I'm pretty new to it all.

Hi,

You should turn the white carts over and back 50 times at the start of each day before printing. Shaking them vigorously will gas the ink up and cause printing problems.

The colours should never need to be agitated unless stood for over a month without use.

I would test to see what works best in your shop.

See if there is visual evidence on a garmet that can be attributed to air bubbles.
1. Vigorous shake.
2. Vigorous shake and 1 hr rest.
3. Gentle agitation
4. Do nothing except a daily white ink print.

You know the volume of printing, environmental conditions and quality of ink are HUGE influences on what works best in your shop. I suspect that a machine that is mostly idle will not respond well to vigorous shaking, not because of bubble but due to suspended particles That is bad news. I have not heard a manufacturer of printers or ink suggest a vigorous shake.
