Default Feedback / Review on Resolute's Kodak Ink

Resolute's Kodak is outstanding!

All I can say is thank god for Brexit!, I have been using Resolute ink for years and I have never been so excited to use DTG AGAIN .
This may seem like a biased review but I can honestly say that it is 100% honest, we have had several different printers in the past including the HM1, but resolutes RJET 4/5 printers have outlived our other models and are still in use.
I have been using their Brite Ink for around 3 years and the odd few complaints of bad wash results was a bit frustrating but I was fairly sure that this was just how DTG is.
So since Brexit as we all know Resolute secured a deal with Kodak to produce DTG Ink, and I have to admit I was a bit sceptical, however one of our printers began to print very poor quality, so it was looking as though we would need to replace the head.
We contacted the resolute team and they were very kind to offer some free flushing solution (May be a limited time offer)

The flushing solution was unbelievable it actually fixed our print head, so we swapped everything over and printed a few t-shirts, cured them and left them to wash the next day.
The next day we did a wash test, and the first thing I noticed was the ink didn't feel slimy it felt quite strong, so thing's were looking positive.
We usually like to take a baby wipe and rub it over the print to see if any ink comes off, and to my instant surprise not a single bit of ink even though the t-shirt was still wet.
So I went to my returns for old t-shirts that were printed on the Brite ink, and every single one left a smudge on the wipe, so thing's were very exciting.
I then mixed the wash results, I did one with dedicates only and another as a mixed wash and every time the results were the same infact the design looks just as good as when it printed.
I will be making a video at some point although I don't have any "professional" recording equipment.

I am looking forward to using a modern formulation of Ink. Why is ink powered by Kodak different from other inks on the market?

Well I have used many different brands,

Firebirds
Dupont Artistri
Resolutes Brite
and now the Kodak which is resolutes new formulation.

I've wash tested them all, and I have to say the Kodak does stand out at the moment, it's early days but we are currently switching all of our machines of this stuff, I have to admit I am using the firebird pretreat solution which has never let me down and it has never blocked my pretreat nozzle where as the Dupont stuff you had to keep it agitated

Yeah it's pretty solid from what I have seen although I am still in the
"I can't believe my eyes" stage

I've only had time to test it with one t-shirt print but when I find some time I will be doing a video on it, really want to see how many wash results it can do, I know that a "Super Quick - 15 minute Wash" it can do pretty much unlimited of them, I wonder how it will perform when you wash it with jeans as some customers are that daft.

So I'll probably update this thread and I'll test it on different coloured t-shirts, probably just print the same design, I don't have any other brand in now but I do have some old returned t-shirts that used different ink so we can compare.

I remember doing a wash test last year on a different brand, and I remember the first wash was acceptable but you could see colour / dull, and the second wash it started to deteriorate.

Will have an update soon

Hi Que,

As a manufacturing partner Resolute make these Kodak inks in the U.K., this product is the result of protecting our customers from Brexit disruption, we know the exchange rates will get a good hammering come exit day and WTO policies could rocket prices of finished inks that are imported.

Hope this explains.

Regards

Colin

Hi Carl,
Have you had time to make a video of what you are seeing and noticing. We can then see what you are experiencing and the differences between the inks.

The Kodak formulation is the result of a lot of R&D &$ invested to produce these new DTG inks. To my knowledge it is the most recent ink set with some components exclusive to this product.

It is true, Kodak are late entering the DTG arena with their own products. My take on this is, better late than never and what a killer product to enter with. Durability, colour gamut and a low settle white are the best I have seen. The associated products, flush, cleaner, capping station solution and two very solid pre-treatments are as you would expect, performing in line with the inks, very well. This is genuine feedback from people who are using it, as reported by the originator of this post.

Hope this explains.

Regards

Colin
