Default R-Jet 5 head alignment issues

Hi all I wonder if anyone can shine some light on a issue I have. I am relieved to be able to successfully complete a nozzle check without error which means my print head is fine. Currently I do not have any white ink in the tanks as I took them out after i bought the printer. so while performing a nozzle check I can see that it prints red magenta yellow and blue and some white but not completely. however the alignment is off. When performing the alignment I get a service error. What can that be?

By the way: anyone who gets a paper not straight error has to only go through their manual and set the printer up as specified as the default settings are not the correct settings for the printer.... I had to mention this as no one helped me on here regarding this. resoluteink kindly helped me out

Thank you very much

Hi Shimstar,

Make sure you are printing the correct nozzle check. You should see one square for each colour that contains staggered lines in one horizontal row. You don’t check alignment when printing a nozzle check.

The alignment is pre set, the auto alignment option does not work as it cannot see the white ink when scanning. You should NOT print without ink or flushing solution filled in all the lines, you can burn the head out by doing this. I am pretty sure the alignment will be ok once you have the printer filled correctly.

You should also stick to using the correct ink set, using the wrong ink will cause your colours to be out as the rip is profiled for two types only. These are DuPont & Resolute Ink, if you have been on our web site you will see these.

Hope this helps.

Regards

Colin

Hi Colin,

You are right in that when performing a nozzle check squares with zig zag lines are printed for each colour. Thank you for highlighting that this should not be done when any of the ink lines are empty. There for I will fill up the empty tanks (6,7,8) with the pink flush solution which is designed for water based inks and try again to perform a nozzle check. The reason why I queried the alignment on here is because the printer printed on the outer metal frame.... Am I using the wrong box in that case? Further more the print line wasn't entirely straight. I tried to perform a auto alignment for all bi direction but it erroree out so that's what I was trying to understand. I want to perform a power flush using the pink solution, is that the correct solution? And is it safe to leave in the tanks a sI made the mistake of using a solvent based one before which ruined my bulk ink cartridges. Thanks once more.

Default R-JeR jet 5 power cleaning query

When performing a power clean the instructions set out in the manual and on the LCD display on the printer is clear. However what solutions should be in what bulk in cartridges. For example do I need to empty out all the BCMY inks and fill with cleanin solution or do I just keep cleaning solution in tanks 6 7 8 as I am not using white at the moment and what volume of the pink cleaning solution should be used?

Hi,

Only tanks 7 & 8 should be used, tank 6 is just used to hold the circulation return pipes while you refill 7 & 8.

In regards to the pink cleaning solution, what ink is installed in the printer?

You can have ink in the CMYK & ink or flush in the white lines when performing a power clean, they do not cross over. Make sure the waste tank is empty and the chip reset before doing a power clean.

Regards

Colin
