Default R jet 5 cleaning solution nightmare

Forgive me as I am new to the DTG world. I purchaed a second hand R jet 5 ealrier on this year from a company that had decided to ditch its t shirt printing and continue with embroidery. I was told the printer was sat there for 6 month and not been used so it may need the print head changing. The lot came with a resolute pre treatment booth (I am yet to test this), a wagner spray gun, 2 boxs one for kids and one for adults and an insert for polos and luckily the usb dongle. I dont know much about any of the items but took the risk and brought it. The ink tanks on the left was colours and on the right white. I wanted to set something up for my wife to do at home as I have a professional job already.

Anywya i purchased a eco solvent flush and proceeded to clear out the white ink tanks and filled up the tanks with the solution. The chap that had the printer must of been one firsty bugger as he didnt clean anything it seemed, which I overlooked when i brought it. I proceeded to soak the tanks as it was heavily soiled To my horror the plastic bottles melted and holes formed leaking the solution out every where!! Does exposure for a couple hour of these cleaners ?

I am getting some issues setting up this printer and i know people will say get a training day which isnt at the moment affordable for me so I must proceed to do something about it. The issues I have are:

1) software drivers for printer is not locatable when installing the rip software. Where is it?

2)the printer after a few messing around rests on standby mode, I have had some 000100001 service req codes when loading the try but resolves when I reset. What can that be?

3) when trying to do a nozzle check I get paper not straight message. Why is that?

4) I need some bulk ink tanks. Are there an alternative place to buy them as I dont fancy paying 65 odd pounds plus vat. I saw some r jet 5s with epson 4880 ink tanks attached is that okay to do?

5) some times the printer thinks the bulk ink tanks are not genuine. Why is that because they look genuine?

Sorry for all the questions. I wish to one day be proficient in DTG world.

Hello Shimstar,

I have not been able to login for a week so apologies if my reply seems a little late. I have checked at the office and I see several emails between yourself and one of my team recommending you take some training. DTG is very difficult to self teach, a good example is in your post, you did not purchase cleaning solution from Resolute which resulted in you melting an expensive bulk ink tank.

Your heading states Resolute Ink cleaning solution nightmare, this is not true, it is you that used the wrong cleaning solution. The DTG process is water based NOT solvent and you must use the correct solutions or face expensive consequences.

Whilst we will try to help all we can, there is a limit to what we can achieve over the phone and email, when a DTG printer is purchased directly from Resolute we include a full two days training, this covers the process, maintenance and software. I hope you will consider this option and understand, although involving a cost, a technician showing you how to look after your equipment and how to use it will probably save you a lot of wasted time, effort and stress.

Best regards

Colin
