Default how do you flush an R-JET 5

Hi there folks, greetings, this is my first post as a complete newbie to the tshirt forums.

I bought an R-JET 5 2nd hand that had been unused for a number of months. I was told that it just needed a “good flush” to get it back to working order. I have read the manual thoroughly, and it doesn’t seem to mention a flushing procedure.
At present, there are some inks in tanks 1-4 (CMYK), tanks 6,7 and 8 are empty (but have the residue of what looks like white ink).
I can see clearly, that there is ink sitting in the lines (running up tot the print head), and was assuming that the purpose of "flushing" was to essentially flush/clean out the ink circulation system.

I imagine that this would essentially be a 2 part process,
1.flushing the system
then
2.introducing new inks.

Can anyone advise me on this?, clear concise instructions would be greatly appreciated as i'm an absolute newbie and not familiar with
all of the technical terms yet lol.

any advice would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks,
Stephen

Hi Stephen

Ok first thing, a good flush might not get it back to working order if it was not flushed before hand. If white ink has been sitting in there without any circulation then it will settle and probably clog.

But the flushing procedure is pretty straight forward. You will need some cleaning solution - a 5ltr bottle should give you plenty. First use it to clean the ink tanks and use it to rinse out the majority of any white residue that may be in the white tanks.

Then fill all tanks with cleaning solution and there is an option in the menu's on the control panel for power cleaning. You need to run this procedure and it will pull the cleaning solution through the machine, flushing it. You need to be at the machine while you do this as it will ask to lower and raise the levers at certain points. It's also best to reset the chips on all tanks, empty and reset the maintenance tank as well before hand.

Then if it all looks flush, empty the tanks, refill them with ink and then run a power clean cycle again to pull the ink through the system.

Run a nozzle check, if all good then you should be good to go.

Hi Tony,

Thank you so much for your reply, it is greatly appreciated!

Can you recommend any online retailers to purchase the "cleaning fluid" from?

Also, is there any way to set up the printer to print with just "CMYK" inks for a period?
could I essentially leave the white ink tanks empty (7 and 8) (after they have been cleaned and flushed of course), or do the the white ink lines need ink circulating through them constantly, even when the white ink is not being used?.

Again,

Thank you so much for your help,
stephen

Assuming you're in the UK then Resolute (https://www.resoluteink.co.uk/) sell everything you need as well as spare parts for your printer. If you give them a call they will advise you on which cleaning solutions and methods work best with your printer.

You can get it from Resolute or if you have an account with Ralawise you can get it through them as well. In regards to the white ink, just keep the tanks filled with the cleaning solution as well as a little in tank 6 so you have something circulating through the lines when the auto circulation kicks in.
