Default Printhead Sensor

How often do the printhead multi-sensors have to replaced, is it a common thing?

After flushing my printhead the carriage doesn't want to go any further than a few inches to the left of the capping station when it should be scanning the magnetic strip on the platen.

I've cleaned the sensor thoroughly but have heard it could be a problem with the strip within the carriage or the motherboard...

In the meantime however I cannot run any cleaning cycles to keep the ink moving in the lines, I read somewhere that you can disable the sensor somehow if you want to bypass it, would this be recommended in order to run a clean cycle?

Before going down that route, I assume you've replaced the strip on the box? If you have to replace the sensor then it's no big deal, about £15 for the part and just a couple of screws and an unplugging of a cable

Hi,

If your multi sensor has gone you would be getting an error code telling you this. It is most likely to be the encoder strip.

Put the print head carriage into the centre of the print bar, now turn on the printer and see if it travels slowly and parks in the capping station. If it does it is not the encoder, you will need the box loaded first.

Hope this helps.

Colin
