Default More Hybrid details emerge

Sounds an interesting concept but I'd want to know if there's any mess in making/cleaning/reclaiming the screen system.

Hi,

There is no mess in making the screens as the R-Jet 5 is used as a direct to mesh machine using specially developed software and platen to hold the frame.

You can reclaim screens and this is the normal procedure you would use on any screen. You simply wash and store ready to use again, this is a relatively simple (can be messy) process as we use our own modified water based white.

We were hoping to have a video of this running a couple of months ago but we are in delay due to a key member being unavoidably away from the office until next year.

It is quite a simple but impressive compact system and seeing is believing, hopefully very soon.

Regards

Colin

Sounds good, I will send you a hoodie when tests can be done as I'd like to see if the white ink settles better for a strong white

Just saw some more pics in P&P and it finally makes some sense on how it works although I would imagine you'd need a conveyor dryer rather than a heat press to get the full benefit of getting print times down.

You can use a heat press, although still in testing we have the cure times down to one minute so that's definitely quicker.

Also don't forget you will not be using the heat press to cure pre-treatment as it doesn't use any :-)

Ah right, how far are we away from knowing a cost for the set-up?

As its a combined process the quoting is individual as some people will need more equipment than others.

I can give you a call in the morning if you want some firm figures, its better for you as you already have the host R-Jet 5.

Share, go on share the link as I have not seen the pics

Yes share the link so I can see how the industry is going to change so we can reduce the dependence on pre-treatment.

Anyone else in the UK see the beta at P&P over the weekend? Any thoughts?

It's definitely more of manual process than I had in mind when I first enquired about it when I bought the R-Jet 5 and probably really comes into it's own if someone asks for a good run of shirts with every colour under the sun in the design.

Yes the beta process was manual but it was a beta process displayed and not the finished product.

What I understood is that the finished Hybrid will be automated.

The printing of the white ink layer being separated from the CMYK layer is a good idea. It allows a cycle process of printing to be done and really reduces the time to print multiple images.

I was told there will be the manual version and also an automated version which will obviously cost a good chunk more.

I came away thinking more along the lines of 'could I make a decent return on printing marshmallows and chocolates with the food ink version of the R-Jet and not develop diabetes at the same time

I came away thinking that it is going to be so good to print for schools, teams, clubs by keeping the price of printing down.
