Default Rjet 4 white ink is grey

Hi there,

Recently bought an R JET 4 direct to garment printer and I am not entirely sure how to tweak the RIP software and settings.

Printing black onto white garments is simple,
printing cmyk onto white garments is simple.

Printing white or 2 pass cmyk onto dark garments is a little confusing, when the printer does a white pass it is hardly putting any ink down and looks fairly grey and slightly bobbly.

Is there a setting that will make the white a white colour and make it pop. how can i tell the printer to lay down more white ink?

thankyou.

Probably your pretreating technique is the problem.

Can you describe your process?

Have you done a nozzle check? How does it look? If the white ink is gray, it may be that the printhead is delaminated and black is leaking into the white.

I can assure you its not the ink. Ive used it for years. Check out the bright teeth and writing in the pictures below.

It could be a number of things varying from un-agitated old ink through to a blocked printhead. How is your nozzle check?

Usually the white ink will turn a grey color if it hasn't been agitated enough due to sitting too long between prints. Try shaking the white ink well and print several large white boxes to move the "old" ink out the head and fresh in. You should start to see the white get brighter and brighter. Also make sure your pretreatment technique is dialed in.

Our whites are not as bright as the bicycle one, the only way we can make the inks brighter is by changing the print mode to Dupont instead of resolute, all the colours print better, the pre treatment seems to effect the print significantly, we pre treat so we have a mist (due like) surface, then we roll it to flatten it and push into the fibres of garment,

and every time i try to do a nozzle check it just comes up with errors (paper not cut) and its very annoying, we did several flush cleans with the liquid and put new ink in and its not that much brighter.

But be interesting to see how some of you print your garments to achieve the results you do from start to finish, we may be overlooking something important

Hi, it sounds like you are running this printer without any training so I assume you have bought this second hand. Did you get the manual with the printer, this tells you how to print a nozzle check correctly.

If you have two profiles the software version must be at least three years old and needs updating to the newest version for that printer.

Resolute offer free training at HQ, why don't you call me and I will arrange for you to get some free training on the process. You could bring your computer and we can sort out the software for you at the same time.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards

Colin

Hi Colin,

Thanks. I have managed to do a successful nozzle check by following the instructions again it seemed to be the paper type that wasn't set. We already spoke to you regarding the printer, we purchased it off the lady down near Manchester? speaking to Vince on the phone he said the new software wouldn't work with our printer anyway but we would be interested in the training as we do have a lot of questions. we have had many successful prints, however i feel there is just something preventing the white from being white, its evident that tank 8 for the white doesn't go down as quickly as the others so it could be blocked nozzles, but when i do a nozzle test and there is breakages in the lines i clean it and re check and that works.

I really want dark shirt prints like the ones posted above, they are great.

Thanks

Hi,

Vince is correct but we have a newer version for the R-Jet 4 that should make it better. Sounds like a partially clogged damper on number 8.

Let me know how you want to move this on.

Colin

Oh ok, and yeh maybe so, Well obviousely if we could arrange some free training that would be brilliant, we know the main part its just a few little questions and techniques that may help our printing become much easier. Thanks Colin
