Default RESOLUTE DTG R-JET 4 whiteink printing problem

hi All,

I have a strange problem with my R-Jet 4.

I start with a printhead clean, and it all seem ok, there's plenty of white ink in the capping station, and nozzle check is very good.

The white ink fails over time or few prints. The white ink gets fainter as the time goes on. I can get 3 to 4 prints then fading becomes needing 2 applications of underbase, and then it it fades completely after a couple more prints.

If I don't print anything say for an hour after a printhead clean, then the first print will be very faded.

So it appears like there's an air leak somewhere, but why would it happen on all white channels at the same time?

What makes it more weird is that CMYK printing if fine, no problems.

I don't think it's the printhead as I had a spare part put in just to eliminate that and it's still happening. MInd u it still uses the old manifold All dampers are quite new, and capping station is a few weeks old.

Has anyone had a similar problem, or know what the issue is?

many thanks in advance
Andrew

It's probably ink starvation. I would change the white dampers and flush entire system with cleanign soultion. Replace or clean cartridges also.

Other problem may be capping station. This is a consubable and should be replaced every 6 months.

thank you for the mega quick reply,
yes I changed dampers, and flushed the system with cleaning fluid, capping station is only few week old, and after doing all that the problem has become even worse than before, I was able to get up to 10 prints done before it started fading.
So you can see why I'm puzzled at this stage. Also if it was one channel then I'd understand, but after a while none will print until head is charged with ink again. Weird or what....

humidity and temp all ok, always between 60 and 70% and 19C
now that you mention the ink it might be that, problems seem to have started when I changed ink supplier,
ok I will try my old ink supplier and see how it goes,
I will let you know once I get this problem solved,
thank you

Hi Andy, if possible could you give a few bits of info so I can help you.

What is the serial number, does your R-Jet 4 have circulation, where did you get your ink from and how old is it ?

Regards

Colin

hi Colin,
Serial number is JZ7E029147
No circulation,
Using Teebright II Arctic White from inkcafe, bought it very recently so as far as I'm aware it's not old, it works ok on my T-Jet II.
I'm beginning to think that maybe it just needs a brand new printhead?
thank you
Andy

Hi Andy, That ink will build on the surface of the head as you print and choke the exit holes. Its not ideal for the R-Jet 4. I think you would have much better results from DuPont white.

I would try flushing and using this before investing in a new head. Checkout the website for offers, cant say to much :-)
