Default Epson Stylus Photo 1400 updated firmware

I have an Epson Photo Stylus 1400 that I used for printing out my positives. I have refillable cartridges and converted all my colours to black to make an opaque black. When I updated my firmware, it made the refillable cartridges not recognized by the printer. Has anyone had a solution to deal with this issue? I still have a lot of ink left and the printer still works well. Suggestions?

You should have ask here first before you updated the firmware. That is what happened to my printer after update. The printer wind up in the trash.

epson firmware updates need to be turned off/never applied when using refillable carts or cis,
and always keep your original carts (oem) in a sealed ziplock baggie stored in a cool dark locale

take out the refillables, do a hard reset of the printer with no carts (unplug for at least 90 secs), turn it on with no carts
when prompted put your oem carts in and let it run through its processes, do a couple of test prints then add back in your refillables
Lnfortun and PatWibble like this.

Thanks for the info. Do you know if this would still work if I have already updated the firmware?
