Default Just getting started: looking for advice on OKI OKI C711 WT and printers I have

Hello,

Newbie here. My wife wants to start creating products in cotton (poly is not an option as she doesn't like the feel of it), and in mugs and other hard surfaces like glass based on her paintings. Since I'm the IT guy in the house, it's on me to set up the shop for her (and cut the checks )

I went to NBM in Meadowlands to get some ideas (maybe getting a OKI C711 WT), but would like to get some advice on whether we should use our current printers with transfer paper:
- HP Laserjet M477FNW
- Epson ET-2750
- Canon Pixma PRO-100 (used to print photos of her artwork)

Please let me know if any of our existing printers - and what transfer papers would be ok to be used with cotton t-shirts and hard surfaces.

Regarding the OKI C711 WT, I was really impressed with the print quality, but all I saw at NBM was t-shirts printer with it - no mugs. Would you know if its prints can be heat pressed into mugs?

Thanks for the help!
-Will

Yes they can if you use the hard surface transfer paper. Jury is out on durability - I have not seen definitive proof they are dishwasher durable like sublimation is. Haven't had time to experiment more with them, I've seen some people have better durability by heating them in an oven after pressing the transfer on but again, I have not verified it for myself yet.

If you are looking for a cheaper option, Ghost makes a white toner for your HP477... https://www.ghost-white-toner.com/pr...o-mfp-m477fnw/

I sent you a PM because we may be in same vicinity?

Thanks tfalk! I will look into that, but it seems the Sawgrass is looking better for our budget. Our HP laser is having some drum issues and adding these specific toners may not be cost effective.

Sublimation is the way to go. The only time I think the white toner lasers need to be an option for mugs is if you are trying to add white to a non-white mug.

You can use a white toner laser printer and a sublimation printer to do your dark cotton shirts as well as transferring onto hard substrates.
the sublimation printer will give you a finer resolution then the Oki color laser printer. the Ghost printer only gives you similar to the Oki 711WT a 3 color print.
