Smile Ghost White Toner

Hi,
I produce custom rockabilly clothing and currently sublimate graphics on white polyester.
I'm looking for a reasonably priced entry system that allows full colour graphics on dark and cotton material.
I was looking at the OKI white toner printers but then I saw Ghost white toner for standard HP printers.
I cannot find must on Ghost in these forums and was wondering if this would be a good option?

P.S my graphics are generally large(80% A4 page) and solid. Muscle cars, hot rods, retro signs etc.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I've never used the Ghost Toner but I believe you may be asking the wrong question.

The HP printers run very hot and I think you're going to have an issue finding transfer papers that will work with it and not jam. I am almost positive, for example, that you'll not be able to use the Forever papers with the HP.

Personally, I'd stick with the OKI products. They, and their toner, is specifically designed for use with T-Shirt transfer papers.

I am not in any way affiliated nor endorse these products. Just passing information for cheaper alternative for printer with white toner. Ghost white printer and toner is now available in US.

Letter size HP Color LaserJet Pro M452dw Printer with White Ink

Tabloid: HP Color LaserJet CP5225dn Printer with White Ink

It is two pass printing system though. The advantage over the single pass CMYW printer is the black is true black. But may be subject to registration issue when printing twice on the same sheet.

I have watched this site you have listed above, but didn't want to buy the printer without being able to buy replacement toner later when the initial ones run out. Where can you get them? I don't see them on the links provided. Just original package

You can get the toner directly for Ghost White in Germany https://www.ghost-white-toner.com/. Shipping cost will kill you though. Ask USCutter if they will provide the toner if you buy the printer from them.

The A4 size may be larger then the HP printer produces.
If so you can always go to a Oki c831n to use only white toner in place of the black toner and print the color
with a Epson 7210 sublimation ink jet printer by using the Image Clip dark paper. Print the color on the B sheet and the white on the A sheet.
Register them on a LED light table and then marry the two papers together before pressing onto the dark cotton shirt.
This process will give you a higher resolution, brighter colors and 95% less cracking because of less toners being used.

the concept is cool but if your trying to print an image and then print white behind it your in for a rude awakening. the paper never lines up exactly twice, so its always a little off. which might not be a problem depending on what your doing. Most paper you cant feed twice because it will jam. Forever laser dark seems to be the only one i can feed twice. Hope this helps

You should read over what I posted to you.
1 You print with your sublimation ink jet printer the color print onto the {B} paper of the Image Clip for Darks

2- Then you print with the white toner of the Oki the same design in Mirror image as a white mask. Choke it about 1000th smaller.

3- Put the two papers together over a LED light table to register them exactly and then press them onto each other. Peel hot.

4- press the {A} paper onto the dark color shirt and peel cold.

You don,t print onto the same paper twice

I was at the International Sportswear Show (ISS) all four days last week. I went to the US Cutter booth each to check out the HP 5225DN printer with the Ghost White toner. I have watched the demo video from US Cutter using a smaller printer with letter size transfer and it appeared to work perfectly. However, at the show with the bigger printer, they could not get the registration to line up on the second pass. On the last day, the guy from US Cutter was totally exasperated and did not even want to try anymore. Maybe the bigger printer has a harder time with registration issues or is hotter and shrinks the transfer film more. They were using Forever Dark. The Forever rep from Germany was at the booth and seemed very uninterested in the problem. I want to try Al's solution but would like to find someone who is using it.

I couldn't get near the US Cutter booth at ISS-AC last friday. I spent about an hour at the OKI booth, they were pressing shirts as fast as they could marry and press them. They were pushing me towards the 8432 which I have to say I was impressed by what I saw... right up until I came home and looked here and see people having trouble with the 8432's.

Al,

On step 2 the image must be solid black so that all the color including white will transfer on A sheet. Just printing the same image in grayscale (mirrored) will not transfer white and anything light color including gradient will drop out during weeding.
