Default ink stuck in mesh when printing

I'm trying to print clothing labels on shirts, but the plastisol ink is getting stuck in the mesh. I'm using 180 yellow mesh, with reduced very runny white plastisol ink by international coatings. I have proper off contact, but tried adjusting anyway, I've tried different squeegees, angles, pressures, pulls, pushes, etc. The ink that's stuck in there won't come out, even after using press wash. The ink has only been on the screen for like 10 mins. Do you guys have any ideas? Very frustrated!

Hmm. Are you curing these on your platen with a flash dryer by any chance? A guess might be that you are accidentally flash curing the ink in the mesh with a hot platen maybe?

Maybe when you washed out your image, a thin layer of emulsion ran into the image area blocking parts of it.
When you wash your screens after exposure, the best thing to do is to take news paper and dry the excess water by applying it to the mesh, not rubbing it. This will prevent that the drops of water running down could bring the thin layer of emulsion back into the image. If the image area is completely open, I dont see any reason that ink not going trough.

I washed thoroughly and checked to make sure there was no emulsion left in the image area, so I don't think that was the issue, but I guess it's possible. I still don't get how the ink (plastisol) is stuck in the mesh, it was VERY runny, yet it wouldn't come out, even with press wash.

Had similar problems, but mostly when I was flashing a large order and got too impatient.....used to try scrubbing and trying to force the ink out with the squeegee using spay wipe and taking out to the pressure washer........then I found Sprayway Fast Open 957 screen opener.....what a life saver this stuff is! You might want to check it out, it might help now or later. Wish I knew about this stuff a couple years ago!

If your using Diazo emulsion if not exposed properly a clear "scum" from the Diazo can can run into the image area. It's hard to see, if you hold the screen on a angle to the light you will see a sheen in the image area. It could also be clear scum from the last image burned in the screen that was not properly reclaimed.

Stay away from screen openers in a can. Your breathing that stuff, they are expensive and can cause reclaim problems. Get a gallon of press wash and put it in a squeeze or spray bottle, squirt a little on a rag and wipe down.
