Hello Smalzstein,
Of course it can, by choosing the medium quality for example in TexJet RIP. The opacity though depends very much on your t-shirt quality (for example the sparse fibers will surely create some issues) and of course on the amount of precoating liquid applied on it. As always the image itself (quality-design) plays a big role in the final result.
I would suggest though, to use the 1440x1440 resolution but reducing the white level from the drop down menu in TexJet RIP. So, instead of printing the full 1440x1440 amount of ink, you can spray only 65% or 70% of the total for example, but still maintaining the good coverage of the 1440x1440 dpi.
