Re: Don't hate your Kiosk

Hello there,
I got a Kiosk HM1 about a week ago, and after reading all about the advantages of converting it to bagged ink, I try ordering the kit from Belquette, but they barely know anything about this machine, and they were helpful and asked me to send pictures of my machine to see if they could help. My question is, I know this machine is old, and technology is dated, but, should I keep trying to get this machine to work or it doesn't worth the time and effort? I don't even have the Maintenance software, or the RIP.

When I made this post there wasn't an official kit, but Belquette has all the connectors as well as the lines if you need them.

Belquette PrintsRite Bagged Ink System

You basically are changing out your ink delivery system

Ink >Convert to bags

Ink lines > bigger ink lines

Cable chain > similar to bulk ink system chain

You don't have to convert your dampers but the "enhanced dampers" work great.

dtginks.com Epson

Check with them regarding your set up since every machine is different and has different needs.

You will be happy..

Where do you get this system? Your pictures look great especially the white. I can only get this with my EZ Pro with 1440 dpi.

we have the ez bulk delivery. we get really nice prints on dark garments, they just cost a lot because of the cost of the white ink and they take a long time to print

Re: Don't hate your Kiosk

we get prints like that also but the white ink is too expensive and the process too slow to make it worth it for anything more than a few shirts.

Re: Don't hate your Kiosk

I think I speak for all of us that are looking for some consistancy from our DTG investment, thanks Adam & Carla for your help. Hopefully what has worked well for you will also work for me... I'll keep you posted.

BTW, my 541 is so far running great with absolutely no issues... (so far). I have made more money from it in the few weeks I've owned it than the few years I've owned the Kiosk... but if I can get my K2 to run just as good, I would be happier than a blood tick on sleeping dog.

Re: Don't hate your Kiosk

Attached is a picture showing both types of dampers used in some dtg machines. Is there no way to modify the 48xx set-up to accomodate the enhanced dampers. I have a 4800 printer and have bought the sealed cartridgees from DTG Inks. Is it necessary to change the dampers too? I have not started using them as yet because of other machine problems.

Re: Don't hate your Kiosk

Mark, best is relative

But here is my experience with dampers and cartridges for the White Ink channels.

Regular Kiosk Dampers (small filter) - Filter is too small to lay down enough white ink without starvation.

Enhanced Dampers (DTGInks.com) - Filter is 3 times wider than regular dampers, works great on the kiosk. No dripping after priming and seating them on the print head.

Belquette Dampers / HM1 - These dampers are superior to the Enhanced dampers. They have a large filter and a check valve to prevent some dripping and backflow of ink.
Problem with these is that after priming them they tend to drip if you touch the side bladder when seating them on the print head. It's easy to drip ink on your ribbon cable and lose a print head that way.

Cartridges - These work just as good as the Enhanced Dampers and Belquette dampers however, they hold so much ink that after awhile the white ink will settle no matter how much you print with them. You'll have to take them out and shake them.

So based on that, my opinion is the Enhanced Dampers from DTGInks.com for the white channels is the way to go.

Re: Don't hate your Kiosk

Just so I am clear, what is the best set-up for dampers? I understand DTG INKS enhanced cartridges for the white ink, but for the CMYK should I also use the DTG INKS enhanced carts? I do have the Equip Zone bulk cartridges as well as my original Kiosk dampers that came with my machine. I'm not looking to scrimp, if you suggest the enhanced carts all the way around then that's what I'll get.
