I was hoping for a nice challenge when I started this project and kept hearing it would be hard to do and how people have tried it with no luck, but have to say it really wasn't no challenge at all. It was quite simple if you ask me. His videos were simple to understand and never ran into any problems.

I plan on writing a more formal review later and have a second 3880 I'm plan on documenting the process so it might help others. I can say, any questions I had David always responded quick and there was never a language barrier problem.

I am a beginner and enthusiast, could you share a step by step guide to be able to transform my epson 3880 printer or L1800? or sell me the plans at a reasonable price thank you.

Can I post a picture of the UFO board? Or maybe that is ok but if I put something in it that I made is that bad?

Who knows what happened with David & his UFO site?
Placing an order from USA on his site and getting this message:

"Sorry, we are not accepting payments from your region at this time.
Please contact us for alternate arrangements."

And no answer from the site contact us form whatsoever

Re: Ufo 3880 diy dtg

David will sell you a kit no problem but there will be wires all over the place that dont make sense and support is zero. I get at least 4 emails per week from his customers asking me for help patching the machines up. I resorted to having custom wiring looms made for his 3880 and R3000 kits. He does not even reply to his regular customers. You get your kit, some dodgy videos and PDF usually based on old designs. Then question him about the videos not matching the wiring supplied and he gets angry. Total **** IMO

Re: Ufo 3880 diy dtg

Hi, like to check if anyone does print head alignment using epson utility after conversion? I did mine (UFO industrial + R3000) and got a weird printout (see pic) that does not seem align-able.

Or is alignment necessary at all?

Re: Ufo 3880 diy dtg

That is strange. He always got back to me very quickly, usually within 24 hours. Just give him some time and I am sure he will respond.

Re: Ufo 3880 diy dtg

Has anyone had issues with the bed not moving forward or back to the origin point?
Sometimes when I plug the base unit in, it will move the bed up and down but not back and forth.
I have to unplug and plug it a few times for it to move back and forth. Does it need sometime before it moves the bed back and forth?
I have the ufo industrial base with epson 3880 setup.
thanks
