Rodney, Greg,

Thanks for the feedback!

Having our own sites has definitely increased our sales over time. Like Rodney said, it helps with branding your products and your name. It also provides additional opportunities for SEO - we have several products that place better with Google and other engines on our own sites than they do with our shops at CafePress. I'd imagine the same would hold true with other fulfillment set ups.

Re: Did your sales increase when you moved to your own site?

I don't think having an off site shop will automatically increase sales, but it does give you the potential for better branding of your products.

Since many of the top shops (on both spreadshirt and cafepress) have offsite shops, it certainly couldn't hurt.

Either way, you'll still have to advertise your store.

I think that's one thing that folks with offsite shops have in common is that they really grasp the marketing/advertising side of things, so they try to treat their stores like a business.

Many already have established sites, so they are just "plugging in products" that appeal to their existing visitors.

I'm curious to know - for people using services like spreadshirt etc., did your sales improve after you created your own site (i.e. only when a visitor wants to buy is she transferred to SS)?
