Re: Solids are KILLING ME!!

Lost a white channel the other day. Tossed that damper into Windex+ammonia, pulled an old damper out of the mix, ran distilled through it a few times, and off we went. No big deal. Excellent post by @23spiderman that we now use as part of our "why is this channel dead" maintenance.

We still do an F4 about every 2 weeks, though. Just seems to help keep nozzles clean.

Haven't waterfalled yet -- with our old Easy T we had to waterfall every week.

The wiper blade will eventually need to be replaced regardless of how much you clean it. Kinda like the wipers on your car, they will degrade with use. For $10 it's worth having an extra one laying around. The ViperOne tips will wear out with use also, I usually keep a couple extra tips around just in case.

Having an extra set of dampers to swap out every so often is good insurance. Following Sean's guide on cleaning out the dampers is good way to save them and keep your consumable costs down. That said, sometimes the plastic valving inside the damper can fail regardless of how it's cleaned. This is more prominent with chinese dampers and not OEM Epson versions as the Epson dampers are built much much better.

no, no, no! i have written a thread in the NeoFlex section that details how i clean my dampers. i've had the same 4 backup dampers for white ink for about 2 years, and i rotate them out every 3-4 weeks. they are cleaned with Windex w/ammonia, then flushed with distilled water before they are put back into the printer. i will leave them soaking in Windex for a couple of weeks before flushing them out with water.

it is correct that the wiper blade and dampers are consumables, but you don't need to throw them away. they can both be cleaned. i have one extra wiper blade that i swap out while i'm cleaning the dirty blade.

also, my understanding is that the Viper One tip can also be cleaned. i do not have a Viper One, so you might check with Brian Walker on that.

it's possible, but not too likely if you maintain the dampers properly. i wrote a thread in the NeoFlex section regarding damper maintenance. i change out my 4 white ink dampers every 3-4 weeks.

Re: Solids are KILLING ME!!

when you print, the movement of the print head will agitate the ink in the dampers a little bit. i just print white blocks of ink until the unmixed ink is gone and pure white is what is printing. if you are printing with white ink every day, then this won't be necessary. it all depends on how much time has passed between white ink prints. overnight won't be a problem. a day or more, and you will have some settling of the white ink.

thanks for your reply. I believe you are referring to shaking the white inks? Sorry I should have been specific, but I was asking about the shaking of the dampers...

please advise, thank you!

Is #4 something that needs to be done every morning during daily maintenance??

Re: Solids are KILLING ME!!

A new challenge but not sure why its happening with image armor. Using a nice ringspun shirt. Getting a good amount of pt on 20 grams and I also printed white ink and waited about 20mins to proceed to print CMYK. the print looked like a fine glossy poster after. So really wanted the shirt to not have any issues with the cure so I hovered for about 5 mins. after hovering, you can see the white creeping through the color creating a speckled mess. Keep in mind I have not cured yet. Thoughts?

I have seen the same issue, working in more testing to exactly why and how to reduce it
