Re: DTG M2 Printing Issues

The M2 is a good solid work horse, been around for 6 years now and no bugs to iron out. Go and see one printing at your local dealer, or send for samples with print times and ink costs.

Re: DTG M2 Printing Issues

had the exact problem, intermittent white stripes in the middle of prints. Regardless of the amount of passes, i use all the settings depending on what client requires, cost and time. We eventually determined that that our computer system was virus ridden (huge fail on our part) so cleaned all that and reinstalled the software and no problems since.

I am very new to the forum and not all that tech savvy but here are a few things i learned in two years with the M2:

Cleaning and maintenance is vital. Make sure your capping station and wiper blade and sparking clean at all times to avoid ink drops and banding. Keep tabs on when your filters and dampers need to be changed

Temperature is key. We live in a relatively warm climate so keeping the temperature low is key to consistency so we invested in a huge air-conditioner to keep the temp constant at 20 degrees Celsius.

Technicians are obsessed with dampers and print heads (well ours are), make them do a full machine assessment before replacing anything. We had intermittent colour drops in the middle of prints for weeks, tech put in a new printhead and it took me reading up on the pump system to figure out the system wasn't pressurizing. New pump sorted it out (which costs less than half of a new head)

WASHING! Almost any print, except for a full finished print on a white shirt, can be washed out and reprinted if you dont cure it first. Black/dark shirts with a white base print we wash with dishwashing liquid and use Dr Beckmann Gallseife on light garments (it will wash out a grey melange completely and clean spots/scrapes on white)

Re: DTG M2 Printing Issues

Yikes! Looks like there are more than a few different issues with that print. None of them however in this thread. I can confirm though my banding issues have disappeared by using the 3 pass setting.

Re: DTG M2 Printing Issues

Good luck to both of you, seems my issue is somewhat different as I don't get banding I get alignment issue. Didn't have it for about 6 months and it is back. Plus I get yellow ink at the top of white ink passes. Guess that is my fault also or I have to spend thousands to upgrade never the machines fault, maybe it is poor cleaning again that's right cleaning is great. Maybe its the t-shirts I'm using or maybe the machine JUST SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: DTG M2 Printing Issues

If I understood what was explained to me by Coldesi is that on 2 pass more ink is being put down in a small area and in effect it can overload on white and thus unwanted white in unwanted places. They told me to print on 3 pass and since I have been using that exclusively I have not had this issue. I had it sporadically on 2 pass. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I have not found a solid solution, but I believe it is a software issue with the RIP. C5 & C6 both have this issue; I could not regularly reproduce it enough to do further testing. The company stands by it being a 2-pass issue, but I don't think they truly know what the problem is because they were unable to offer me any better advice.

Weird, well hope it doesn't happen again.

In this particular print, I was using the "1440x720 underbase" and the "1440x720 with Underbase Graphics_New" preset layer profiles that come with C6. I printed many other jobs with these same settings without seeing this issue.

Any help to avoid this problem is appreciated!
