I know what you mean. It is pretty limiting, but the gallery is more customizable now. This just changed, as far as I can tell. For example, you can move the nav bar from right to left. I have to play with it some more to see what else can be done.

1) When is Zazzle going to upgrade its klunky, underpowered, non-modular user interface? At CafePress I can add a design to dozens of items with a few clicks, instead of the labor intensive mind numbing need to upload, and repeat my tags and descriptions time after time, after time, etc.

2) It is nearly impossible to really control how you gallery looks. There is so little control for the user in changing and managing the look of the gallery I was, frankly, surprised. Why is there so little control for the layout of the gallery?

3) Zazzle is way too possessive and controlling of MY designs for my taste. Why does Zazzle make it so difficult for me to remove designs? I have encountered, literally, dozens of former Zazzlers who had to email for weeks and weeks, repeatedly asking Zazzle to close their stores and remove their designs. I understand that as a business grows the speed with which Zazzle can respond to these requests can slow, but the amount of time in question seems unreasonable.

Let's start with these, and hopefully you can restore my faith in Zazzle.

Re: What determines search rank of Zazzle?

I am really new to zazzle but have started a gallery there in addition to my cafepress store. One thing that really bothers me is the highlighted galleries section where they highlight stores with the most activity. By most activity they mean people who use api key bulk tools to add hundreds and hundreds of clip art and text designs with one little different word like Zowie, Chloe,Joey's 1st birthday or I love Pocatello, Nyack, Kalamazoo, whatever... This is a big problem on Cafepress and now I am seeing it on Zazzle too.
I guess there will always be marketplace flooders but why not reward the shopkeepers who put a lot of effort into bringing people cool, original and artistic designs, and highlight more of their stores.
Just my opinion. I am fairly new to zazzle so I will see if it's worth the effort or not.

Zazzle Team,

Re: What determines search rank of Zazzle?

You should see the new search going live in the next week or so. In that, you'll see the new search rank "popular" based on recent activity around the product including sales, views, comments, positive ratings, and more. The responses and increases in conversions with the new search have been really positive so far. Let us know what you think!

Re: What determines search rank of Zazzle?

Check out Zazzle's new beta search that we're testing out. We have implemented a new popularity algorithm that takes into account community participation and the momentum of product popularity. Some of the more significant things this is based on include recent views, ratings, comments, favorites, and of course sales. You can view popularity today, this week, this month, and all time. Just click "try beta search" when you search on Zazzle. This should be coming live over the next several weeks...

Re: What determines search rank of Zazzle?

I have found that it's a combination of votes and number of comments. If you look at the most popular items, they usually have several comments. I'm sure purchases contribute too.

Re: What determines search rank of Zazzle?

That's a good question. I really wouldn't know, but I guess the primary factor is page views...

Re: What determines search rank of Zazzle?

What determines the search rank on Zazzle? Besides the newest? Is it just the number of "votes" you have, or is it based on sales as well? Thanks!
