My Neoflex just decided to stop moving along the bed. It all started when I canceled a job by pressing pause and then pressed and held pause to reset printer, then then I turned off the base to reset the whole thing. When I turned it back on, the printer did not move at all. On the base it will say (*Print Mode* End) and if I press standby to move it forward it will say (*Print Mode* Front Moving) but it wont move at all. The printer just says (Set paper lever). Any help please.....
I've done those steps, turn off, unplug, push to back plug it turn on, turn off, unplug, push to the front, turn on but it did not work. Sensors seem to be working, I'm thinking it could be something related to the servo motor or control box. The control box has the green light on, the one that says charge but I don't hear the light humming noise the servo motor makes when it's idling. It's recognizing the printer and can do its functions but it just won't move at all.
There is a circuit board that controls the motor near the back of the transport unit. Perhaps there is an issue with it. I am sure the Tigers will be able to resolve it.
Tigers were not able to help me today. I don't have the extended warranty so......... NO TECH SUPORT FOR ME... I did check the board but did not see any wires or connectors loose. I wonder if it has a blown circuit. I hope I can figure this out quick cause jobs are starting to pile up.
Mario,
We do not have extend warranty policy. You may never did register as an NeoFamily. 2nd hand buyers often (90%) ignore training. This cause Tigers endless time and efforts to help them. AA had no choice but made policy on 2nd hand users. I do not have great feeling but AA has to survive to support NeoFamily strong. Need money to do this. You won't believe how much budget for A/S. This is one of reasons why I thank to all NeoFamily who support AA.
AA has to survive strong and healthy to support NeoFamily on Red Carpet.
Cheers! Beers are on me always.
PS: Please, register and receive training.
AA support 2nd hand market. Without 2nd hand market there will be no New market. Ying Yang theory.
Mario please share what was the cause of your problem. I am experiencing the exact same issue. I have tried everything I can think of to no avail. From researching the forum it seems to be the PLC drive.
If you remove the bed/table and go to the far end, you should see a small window through which you should see LED 00000 - do you see these digits? Does the LCD display on your printer show 'Set Printer Lever?
Hi John.
Yes the printer display does say "set paper lever" and for the display I only have a green charging light. I have moved the printer forward and back by hand, checked both relays on the bed they are working.
You need to remove the cover to expose the PLC unit. This involves removing the bed and the two collars that level the bed. Be careful as you'll also expose live electrical cables!
Get your hair dryer and blow warm air into the vents of the PLC unit - don't choose the hottest setting. After a few minutes, you should see the LED digits start to appear. When all the digits display 00000 the Neo will spring into life.
I found that directing warm air into the vent behind the bed elevating posts seemed to be quite effective.
John just incase Angie doesn't tell you enough "YOU ARE AMAZING!" just needed to keep the dryer on longer than I initially did.
Now i'm getting a reload paper message I have tried adjusting my settings under printer set up as per a post on here no change.
Do you know a magic fix for that also?
Thats great Cathie - now you know what to do next time
Im guessing the printer is in the Home position? Have you tried switchin base & printer off & restarting? If that doesn't work, push the printer half way down the bed and then switch on. If that doesn't work, I'll do some resrarch
No luck yet. Thank you for your help I'm mentally frazzled I'm going to have dinner and call it a night. I will give the tigers a call in the morning. It keeps saying that I need to reload the paper.
Here are the instructions I followed before they were listed in another thread but I didn't know how to attach it to my message.
Jason sent me this list when I had this problem... First put the printer in standby mode then go to printer setup and make sure:
Platen Gap
- Page Line <OFF>
- Interface
- Code Page
- Paper Margin
- PPR Size Check <OFF>
- PPR Align Check <OFF>
- Time Out
- Cutter Adj
- Refresh Margin
- Sheet Size CK <OFF>
- Auto NZL CK <OFF>
- Auto Cleaning <OFF>
- Quiet Cut
- Init Settings
Reload paper issue was sorted by a sort of master reset.
1st by moving the print head into roughly half way down bed
Then unplug the main power lead to bed and wait 5 min
Then plug back in again.
The printer should display ready.
Of course you might encounter the PLC problem again - just be ready.
I'm back up and running!!! I was on the right track with following the instructions I posted previously. However after changing the settings to OFF I needed to hit the menu button again to add an * in front of the OFF. Apparently by not pushing the MENU button when I exited everything reverted back to the ON setting.
Too bad I have to go to my day job now. I'm ready to print all day guess it will have to wait till tonight.
Again NeoUncle and Tigers are AWESOME!
i just went through this same problem, but the hair dryer didn't fix the issue. while you may be up and running for now, the transistor that failed (which you brought back to life) will fail again. they have around a 1 1/2 to 2 year life span according to Chaucer. AA will simply replace the failed transistor with a bigger one that should last longer. so my advice for now is 1) don't turn off the transport base and the transistor should remain active, and 2) as soon as you have some down time, send your PLC into AA and let them upgrade your transistor. you don't want this to happen again, especially if it means you not meeting a customer's deadline.
@Stitch-Up, that's what i get for trying to use big words. it probably is the capacitor, all i know is that whatever it is, it's an OEM part, and AA is replacing it with a larger one so that it lasts longer. Chaucer wasn't convinced that applying hot air would fix the problem, but as long as it is getting people through their jobs, then that's all that matters. however, that part failing is a sign that it will need to get fixed.
I had the same problem and the hair dryer trick worked for me yesterday. Held it about 8 inches from the rear vent at medium heat. After 30 seconds the red zero's starting flickering on and after 15 more seconds all the zero's appeared and I was able to get the machine to move again. Will have my electrical repair guy take a look at it soon.
Don't shut power to your bed off until it is replaced, it will happen again.
