Default Pretreat Expiration?

I buy my pretreat one gallon at a time and that usually last us for quite a few months. Recently (yesterday) I was merrily printing shirts, they were coming out exceptionally well! (just a good printing day I guess) I still use the Wagner sprayer for my pretreat and I was coming down to less then half full in the sprayer when I decided to fill it up before I switched to the back side of the shirts. I have one unopened gallon of pretreat and and 1/4 of another gallon that we have been using for months. I dumped a bit of the older gallon in the sprayer (after a good shake) and proceeded to spray the backs. the fronts of the shirts came out great. Once I started printing the back I noticed the white was not printing as well, it didnt look like a nozzle problem but more of a pretreat problem. I let it continued on the other two shirts and all three came out equally bad. I stopped production, did a nozzle check only to find that every single white nozzle was printing beautifully. So I shook the sprayer and went to town on pretreating the remaining shirts. I started printing them and the same thing was still happening, i let the next three ride and I am not happy about how any of them came out.

So after all this I have to wonder if my pretreat has gone bad, I mean the front of the shirts and the previous order came out awesome, once I dumped more pretreat in the sprayer thats when it went down hill. Is anyone familiar with this problem? I am now going to completely wash the sprayer out and put in brand new pretreat...

Default Re: Pretreat Expiration?

How were the results after going back to new pre-treat?

I had similar problems a 4 years back. Unfortunately, I was just starting so did not have a good base line and it took some time to realise that something was not right.
Ordered new pretreat and it worked as directed! Of course between when I had got my first pre-treat and when I reordered, they had redone the formula, so was not sure if it was because it was old or it was just poor quality as they changed the formula.

Oh and the pre-treat was a year old before I started using it. So you have to say expired right?

Be interested to see if any one else has problems with old pre-treat?

Default Re: Pretreat Expiration?

I complete took apart the sprayer and washed it out and flushed it. As of now I opened the new pretreat gallon we got from last week. i do not have the time to see if it was the old pre treat's fault right now. First shirt off looks great. When I get a chance I will put in that other pre treat and see what results I get...
