Our finished products come out looking very old, or washed out. Before they go into the dryer they look great. We heat press and then roll the spray before we print and still get a not so good image. Is our dryer to slow or too hot?
The number one cause of dulling the inks is a dryer that is too hot and not enough airflow. With waterbase inks it is important to have as much air impingment on the shirts as possible with air temps in the 320 degree range. Gas dryers work much more efficiently than electric as electric tend to scortch the inks. I simple test can find the proper cure temp / retention time.
Turn the conveyor down to the slowest speed achieveable. Then start with your heat at approx 300 degress and check for a cure. Slowly turn up the heat on each test print thourgh the dryer until an acceptable cure is achieved. This will let you know if the dryer you are using has enough airflow to cure properly and supply bright colors.
We get dull look on white t-shirts where there is no white underbase. Played with spray from 20% to 70% no change. We use gas Dryer set to 150deg C. Curing time from 2min to 5 min. Black still looks grayish, composed of 50C, 50M, 100K.
we spray amount of 10 on white shirts... 320 for the temp... its your spray settings... go down.. not up..thats what drove us batty!! more spray is good don't work with ours.
