Default How long do prints on darks last?

I'm a screen printer but have a lot of short run that would work better for DTG. How many washes are you finding the prints on black shirts lasting?

Real world...people are not going to turn inside out or dry on low. I've used Scalable with switched to Brother, and faded 1/3 in 2 washes and cracked after 10.

Any wholesalers West of Miss. can PM me.
Thanks, Jeff

Hi, Jeff,

I've had 2-3 years of wear while washing about every other week in warm, partially drying it and then laying it over a chair to finish right side out.

Not exactly what you're talking, but it's a data point.

I've never seen Kornit prints fade. In about three years, as washed above, they will begin to peel. But usually, the shirt itself is more worn out at that point than the print.

Thanks for the info! A Brother sales person gave me a black t-shirt and it's lasted 6 months with no fading. Looks as good as the day I got it. Wash Warm and Dry on High. I know Kornit is the best. Just don't know if it's operator error on about all the DTG shirts I've bought.

Great to hear the Brother print is doing well.

Kornit is wet-on-wet, so it's hard to mess it up when you get the hang of it. I've spent some time with Brother and Epson users, and the pretreating and heat press hovering can really throw in some serious curing variables that may manifest themselves down the line. That said, the Brother/Epson colors look awesome and really pop. Good luck!

Wearing the t-shirt for 5 minutes and then dipping it in 30 C water for 60 seconds does not count as a real world wear+wash cycle.

Every other week for 3 years is 78 washes. This is totally unrealistic even for plastisol prints, as in the real world t-shirts have big holes after 40-50 wear+wash cycles. This would be around 3-4 years of occasional use depending on location and how many tees a person has.
In any case, DTG will not last that long, because people don't wash their t-shirts like a delicate flower. I'd say 25 to 30 washes is the maximum.
