Default Kornit Breeze Main Issues?

Hello,
I've noticed that many big companies choose Kornit, I don't know why to be honest when on the market are available much cheaper and reliable brands like Brother and Epson. So my question is what is the reason for buying a Kornit DTG printer? Are they more reliable, less maintanense, cheap prints, less waste ink? I currently have Anajet Fp-125, Sprint and Mpower but I am looking for my next DTG printer. This is more like a hobby than a busness for me What are the downsides? I was told that the cheap prints are marketing trick and in fact they are not so cheap due to the fact that the ink waste is enormous. Of course I was told that by another company who wants from me to buy their printers. Any advice will be greatly appreciated Thanks

Hi, we have chosen Kornit (3 Breeze installed, 30'000 prints per year on each machine) for the following reasons:

1) pretreatment is automatic (faster, easier)
2) robust (30'000 prints per year)
3) price per print is fair (once you manage file preparation and printer maintenance)
4) print speed is ok

Downsides:
1) price 55'000 eur
2) poor software quality (better than epson anyway)
3) print area could be bigger (like epson at least)
4) poor support from Kornit (1 software update in 12 years, lack of docs and tutorials)
5) many maintenance tasks to keep it running at its best (but we do lots of prints)
6) spare parts are expensive (2000 eur per printhead, 6 installed, we replace 1 every year on each machine)

We tried to add an Epson as well, resold it in one month.

So if it is an hobby for you, keep using a cheaper printer like epson, especially if you do not print a lot.
If you pay 55000 eur and print 5000 tshirts a year you have to add 3 - 4 eur to your prices just to take in account depreciation and maintenance. Out of the market you go

Moreover these printers need to print every day to prevent clogging.

Just got my Breeze. Love it. E-T-shirt is right. In my option, the most important thing is day-to-day maintenance. Epson wastes too much ink when it performs the daily maintenance and if you don't use the printer every day and not taking care of it. The head clogs very easy and it wears out fast.
The Breeze problem is drying the shirts, it is not like the Epson or Brother to cure the ink by heat press. They have their own patented water-based ink and it can work on polyester as well. The shirt is soaked with liquid and needs to put into the dryer at least 8 min (sometimes 15 min depends on the garment) to get the moisture out. If you don't have a good belt dryer and slow it down, and you will find yourself hitting the wall. On the other word, you need more space to do your production.

The Kornit printers are not bad machines. The more you use them the more maintenance they need. I think some of the drawbacks are curing times (12 min), prints smell like Vinegar, sticky or tacky prints when fully cured and lack of service from Kornit in certain areas. The inline pretreat is nice to save time but it makes a mess inside of the printer. Still if you can pick up a used Kornit they seem to go pretty cheap.
