I m french and i m really interesse for buy a kornit 932 NDS, the investissement is important and i want know somes thing before "go go go..." . hope you can give me answers to my question?
- what kind of dryer we need ? how much ?
- What is the cost printing ? on dark garment & white garment ?
- I have see a kornit in action, the result is very good , but after to pass in the dryer ( a big big one) , the printing is more dark . do you know the solution ?
The drying is very critical. The important factors are high airflow and retention time. The worst thing that an owner can do is over heat the inks. This will dull the image and loose the brightness of the colors.
A dryer with 10 to 12 feet of heat and high airflow is the ticket. Then run a cure experiment with your dryer starting at 300 degrees and maximum retention time and check for cure. Gradually increase temp until a colorfast wash test is acheived.
The average cost on a dark shirt with CMYK and white, including the wetting solution is approximately 75 cents. On a white garment with only CMYK the cost per print is 15 to 20 cents.

A word of advice; I would call SEVERAL Kornit owners before accepting that print cost number... The ink cost that much when I owned my machine (if not more); since then, the cost of ink has actually gone up, and the new interlacing software has been released, which by admission uses more ink than the standard printing method (stop me if I'm wrong, on either of those 2 point?).
I don't know what Kornit considers "average" size, but like I said, it would be worth looking into. If you really want to be successful, long term with DTG printing (any machine), never accept what the companies tell you is the "average" ink price; you would be doing yourself a great disservice to base your pricing on numbers that you most likely will rarely hit.
I had a Kornit owner, just this week, tell me that he has been carefully monitoring ink consumption and some of his LARGER prints (larger than average, but obviously still within the limits of what the machine can product) are costing upwards of $2.50 / ea. in ink. Something to think about.
Again, don't take my word for it... Go talk to some Kornit owners. Maybe that won't be the experience for all of them.
I think Justin said it all...Talk to Kornit owners first, BEFORE you "go go go go"....You'd be surprised from what you will hear...Some bad, some good...Collect the info first and then judge by yourself...
I think people assume that if they don't see people discussing their problems on the forums, then the problems don't exist....... Big mistake for potential machine owners.
Agree completely. We owned a Kornit for three years. Our machine was an early one and much may have changed. That said, find a few current owners and ask them about ink use and their general experience with the machine.
Are you a larger company with many employees? Do you have a maintenance guy that is mechanical and has time? Do you have any experiance with other kinds of digital printing, RIPs, profiling, etc? My observation is that companies that could answer yes to these questions did much better.
These machines have a bit of a learning curve and can be temperamental. Do you as the owner have the time and knowledge to spend days with you sleeves rolled up trying to figure it out? Me, I really just wanted to sell shirts.
ALSO... Hello French guy. Our family hosted a student from France last school year. He was from a small village, Ormes, right outside of Reims. I still have a few bottles of Champagne left. I really want to get to France for a visit.
Being digital, doesn't mean you will keep your hands clean...It is not push a button and there you have it...It is much more than that..at least with the Kornit...
Jim,
There is so much help available directly from Kornit, please call and speak with an engineer or artist to help you. Sometimes a simple change in the way you are producing your files can save a great deal. Or if you are not on the latest software, that can help. 414-354-0905
Yes, and if you purchase one be prepared to know that any problem you have is due to operating error or incorrect file preparation. Now "I" own a Brother, just push the button. A monkey could run it.
Hello clavier. Just wondering if you finally got your 932 and dryer. Any updates?
