Default Default settings on black tee

Hello.
We've been running our new Storm II for about 1 month now, and we're getting better, and better at handling it. We love it.. -

But what settings do you use for black shirts, as default setting. ?

we use 40/40/40 - highlight, white under dark, white under light..

i see someone using up to 70… but if we do that, the white is way to thick of a layer, and the CMYK don't lay down good.

We print on value tee, and a brand called Label Free (a good quality 165g tee)

I know its individually from design to design.. but you must have some kind of default, that usually get you a good result..

our setting works good, but i would like the prints to get a bit more vibrate.. - but can't set it up much higher, since we are afraid that we get to many errors then..

Thanks..

We work with Thunder. With 40% white is never opaque. We are in 70-95%.

I will check with our printer for details. It depends on brand and style of course.

I like Neutral T-shirts. Good products.

I usually do 65/55/50 with an additional highlight. that is my default but you said you would be swimming in ink if you did something close to that so my question is what % are you pretreating at? there is a sweet spot with fixation between to much and not enough but if you get that sweet spot it will be able to hold together more ink and the CMYK should laydown on it nicely. I would pick a consistent ink level and play around with fixation %'s

Is that with single or double layer white. ? we use double as default..- and only play around with single, if we have to do 25+ jobs.- we do a lot of one offs…

Yea sorry it's a double hit of white with the additional highlight. I will note this is usually my go to setting but it all depends on the shirt of course and the design your doing. On certain brands I can get away with only doing the double hit and skipping the additional highlight.

I couldn't have said it better, use the "white ink limit" image to test and find the sweet spot.
Print with sliders at 100 and move spray up or down till bleed is at about the 75-80% mark.

Default Re: Default settings on black tee

It all depends on the design in my opinion. Keep in mind that you have 2 different ways of laying down the color. D5x5 or D6x6. D5x5 is in general what we use, however if we need to go better (more color saturation) then we go D6x6. It lays down additional passes of color ink bringing out the natural color of the ink itself.

Here is what I typically run on black t-shirts, 100% Cotton
80% Fixation
Print Mode: Interlaced
Saturation: Normal
White Print Mode: Single
White Highlight = 50%
White print under lights: 80%
White print under darks: 80%
Print speed: Med or high (depends on the size of the design. If it's less then 5" high and 10" wide, print on Med white/color speed)
Sharpen: 10
Choke: 4 pixels
RGBoutput profile: Embedded
CMYK Output Profile: Embedded
RelativeColormetric
Kornit Color Output: Dark
