Default Transfer tape peeling ink off opaque transfer

I am trying to use opaque paper(Blue Line) to put a Design onto a black shirt. I am using the "Transfer tape for Opaque papers" from Coastal Business. I print the design, cut it with my silhouette, put transfer tape on the design, peel it off, put it on the shirt, press at 385 for 30 seconds. Wait until it is completely cool, peel paper. Every single time I get the same results. The Blu and yellow are perfect but the black and orange ink peels right off the transfer!

Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong?

Thanks!

you may need to let the ink dry before cutting/adhering the transfer tape (5 mins?)

try it and see if it makes any difference (use a small design on a scrap tee to save ink/paper/etc)

The transfer that I tried earlier had actually been printed 2 days ago. I ordered different tape to see if it was the tape causing it. Both tapes that I have peel off the ink in the exact same spots. The eyes(Black) and the pepperonis(orange).

is your printer dye based or pigment?

you might need a lower tack tape

Right now I am using Dye(have been for about a month & I haven't had any bleeding issues with the Jetpro SS.) - Just felt the need to say that to prevent a lecture lol

I actually Bought an Epson WF7110 which got here yesterday so I will be switching to Pigment tomorrow when my ink from inkjetcarts.us gets here

my other thought was you might be laying down too much ink

what settings are you using?

(for the epson keep it at plain paper for jpss and the opaque, at least i have gotten excellent results and no ink issues )

we usually will come down pretty hard on you dye-people,
but since you have a pigment on order we will spare the rod

Do you think it could be the Dye ink causing it? Everything I read says that dye ink sinks in more and pigment sits on the top of the paper.. so to me that sounds like I shouldn't have the lifting ink problem but I am really new to this.

I do them on "Normal" and plain paper setting. I do them on Normal as a precaution to prevent bleeding issues with the dye ink.

i think you are on the right track there

which leaves us with the paper itself

maybe you should contemplate getting a neenah 'jet opaque II' paper sample and see if there is a difference

Yeah, I might think about doing that. I love the way this paper turns out & washes. It's lighter than the Jetpro. But, if it don't work that might be my only choice.

have you tried a piece of parchment paper on top of the transfer tape when pressing?

No, I use a Teflon sheet on top of the transfer tape/shirt.

if you can try parchment and see if it makes any difference
it does affect heat differently than teflon, maybe a different wavelength

worth a shot

Okay, if I try it with the pigment ink and it still lifts up, I will try it with parchment instead of Teflon.

I just wanted to say, I figured it out! Pigment ink still peeled up. It was the paper. I as using Yellow line and I switched to Jetpro 3G. It's a little thicker paper but it works!
