Question How long does a Hotronix Fusion last?

Hi everyone. I have a Hotronix Fusion press, got it new around 5 years ago. I use it lightly, maybe 4 times a week, 1-2 hours each time. Basically maybe 30 shirts per week.

About a month ago the pressure reading stopped working. I guess that is pretty common from hearing many here saying their's also did that. A week later the on/off switch seemed mushy.

So I ordered a new one plus new cord and plugin assembly just in case. Yesterday the machine stopped working. Taking it apart I saw it was a burned out wire right at the switch. So I replaced the switch plus the cord and plugin with the new ones I have.

It works now except for the pressure reading. Do you think this all should be telling me that the main board will go soon and I should start looking to buy a new one?

Have you priced a new board? Heck, once that's replaced you basically have a new machine.

Yes, and they cost so much I might as well get a whole new machine if this one stops working. That is why I was wondering if I should start thinking about getting a new one. This pandemic has hit my sales hard so I'm not in good shape to get another one.

Honestly, I don't even look at my pressure gauge any more. Nor did I ever really trust it. I go by feel.

I would let it ride until it can't ride any more. (biker reference!)

Ha! Yeah I'm doing fine without the pressure reading. I do have a Hotronix clamshell press as a backup. It was my first press. But I'm so use to the swing away Fusion it would take awhile to get use to the clamshell again. I'd have new burned knuckles for sure!

It should last forever. Having said that we have a DK20S and have replaced the electronics on it at least 3 times, maybe more, over 11 years of ownership.
