Default Plastisol

HI there. I'm new to all of the Tshirt creating jargon and was wondering if someone could explain to me exactly what Plastisol transfers are - in English.. :-)

I'd like to create transfers for COLOR tshirts and am trying to educate myself of the best way to accomplish this. I do understand the Opaque transfers - but if I'm reading some of these postings correctly, plastisol is a better solution for applying transfers with lettering. The plastisol concept has me confused. Please excuse the dumb questions, but: Is a plastisol transfer similar to the hot/cold peel transfers? Can you run a plastisol transfer through your inkjet printer as the other hot/cold peel transfers? (i.e. can you create at home) If so, where can you find blank plastisol transfers?

Thank you much for any input. I'm really new at this and have so much to learn.
My goal is print a design on a dark colored shirt that has a line of text...then a graphic below the text....then a line of text on the bottom under the graphic. Just looking for the best way to accomplish this.

Plastisol transfers are basically screen printed paper. The screen printer prints the transfer, sends it to you, and then you apply it using a heat press. You can't print them at home on a desktop printer.

Since they are made using the screen printing method, the same principles apply. They are more cost effective when you order a larger quantity, and the fewer colors you use, the cheaper it will be.

Hope that helps. You should read this thread for more info:

Also, do a search for "plastisol transfers" on the forums and you will find a lot of past threads on this topic.
