Print to device Independent postcript file and you should be able to change those settings. Not just any printer will do halftones.

I don't have a rip and I print to file and open up in ghostscript and works fine.

Before you can adjust the Frequency and Angle settings
you first must:

Go To Print

Check - Print Separations
Check - "Use Advanced Settings"
Check - the colors you want to separate
Click with your mouse the Frequency and Angle of the color you want to separate

change accordingly

That should do it!
