I am assuming that the vendor is in China....If so this is exactly why I only deal with vendors with a US presence..otherwise you are at their mercy

You really do have to preform your due diligence when choosing an overseas company. Did they explain the CNY (chinese new year)? They take off weeks for this.

I've had a few problems also, but I think that it comes down to doing your research! My problems mostly were with the factories not having accounts with DHL or Fed ex etc etc.

Hi, Bambot. I'm from China, and I'm working for a Chinese garment factory. I feel sorry that you meet such a problem in China. Business research is definitely very important, but I think the main reason may come from communication problem. In recent years, there are many many chinese persons who are doing international business but many of them are fresh and can't be called professional.
For these businessmen who are doing importing business, I think the most important thing is to find a goodprofessional seller.

This is just my opinion. Nice to get different ideas from anybody else.
Name: Tony(working in an apparel processing company in China and doing international business)

I love this board, but not everybody here is based in the USA so this makes sourcing things harder straight off the bat, hence companys have to look overseas. Here in the UK there really isn't any price effective manufacturers , well for T-shirts anyway.

A good idea if you want to source for instance from China is to maybe use a procurement service where they can either locate a factory for you that they know are trusted or if you source your own factory you can pay them to make a visit and check things out for you. Might work out cheaper than paying for samples which never come.

I did this, i had samples made which weren't fantastic but i was desperate so i got a company to visit the factory in Shanghai , blimey lets just say the report wasn't good!!!!

I think when sourcing overseas everybody has a rough time to start with non-existent samples etc.... But honestly there are good factories out there.

Concerning China depending upon which garment you want to make different regions specialize in different things, so 1 area is renowned for making jeans another T-shirts. It's like the guy in the Ecko video said 1 factory generally specailze in 1 thing, so find the area for T-shirts and you are half way there!
