What they don't want is someone wholesaling their stuff. If you are a decorator and say so you should have no problems. And by the way their marketing support is awesome.

I find them to be less expensive than TSC especially with shipping but TSC has a bigger selection.

Absolutely! We have a similar customer base. Because of their small business approach you should be very happy with them. They have warehouses all over the country and can ship standard UPS overnight to the majority of the country.

Like I said earlier we use them for most of our runs and have never had and problems with them.

Actually SanMar hase a lot more inventory than TSC. You can put all
of TSC's warehouses in just one of SanMar's.

They have a warehouse in NW Houston now. Nice to have them close but they don't stock nearly as much as SanMar does.

SanMar has a way of taking care of small shops that makes you feel like a bigger shop.

We like the personal approach!

As an embroidery shop it is how we make a living, and they are protecting their distributors.
Most embroidery shops charge double when someone who is not in the business brings in their own merchandise, as it is difficult to stay in business sewing for 2 bucks.
If you get a sales tax license and want to be a real business instead of a fly by night, San Mar will do business with you no problem, they are just trying to protect the people that keep them in business.
Like any other business, if you buy your tires at Walmart and take them to your local guy to put them on, he will tell you to go away. He makes money selling the tire not putting in on.

If you are a "real Business" and have a tax id in your state for resale of the apparel, then you should have no problem with sanmar, whether you work out of your home or a brick and mortar. But you have to be in business, that is just the way it works. I do contract work for guys that sit at home or in an office and just market and get the business, but they are a business and operate as such, and usually, I purchase the items anyway, just because of the reasons above.

I have had people ask me if they can bring their own shirts, but they usually end up getting them from me. One place I know charge you more if you bring your own shirts.

You could call and ask. I would think if you supplied information such as an equipment receipt and proof of business registration (whatever your location requires) they would accept that. Many vendors like to know what other vendors you do business with.
