Default F2100 being delivered today!

F2100 will be delivered today! Super excited! Our pretreat machine will not be In until early next week so for now I am going to give some black prints on Orange, Red and Heather Grey American Apparel 2001s a go. I have read In most places I don't need any pretreat for all black prints. Is this correct? Also, how would you recommend I cure these light tees with dark prints? Thank you all In advance! I am sure I will be here quite a bit.

No pretreatment needed when not printing any white ink.

Simple DTG rules;

White ink sticks to the pretreatment and all CMYK colors stick to the white.

NO CMYK colors will stick to pretreatment by themselves. This is why even black needs at least a 50% coverage of white ink under it when printing a design that contains white ink and black ink.

All CMYK colors will stick to 100% cotton tees WITH NO pretreatment used (no white ink in the design at all).

All colors (except white and black) are semi transparent.

For Epson F2000 and F2100 printed garments;

Heat light colored garments 45 to 60 seconds (no white ink printed).

Heat dark colored garments (with white and CMYK ink printed on them) 90 seconds.

Epson recommends 330 degrees when curing tees.

Heavy pressure for drying pretreatment. Light pressure when curing printed tees.

I would also recommend that you pick up a Wagner power sprayer which you can use to do your pre-treatment. We keep one on hand in case we need to do some work on our treatment machine. It is also nice to have to treat on smaller items or areas that would waste a lot of treatment if you used the machine.

I know this may sound dumb to you seasoned vets but, where do you see the amount of time a print took? I can't find that anywhere. Thank you In advance!

We've been very pleased with the reception that the Epson F2100 has received.

It's been good so far but, to get the print results I want it is a bit costly. Both In Ink and pretreat.

Did you sell your old printer or this one is the first?

I say leave the fence sprayers do their job of spraying fences.

My Speed Treater has never gone down in 3 years. Sure it's needed a few tweaks here and there but it has never left me high and dry. Ever.

The correct term is "necessary"... Pretreatment is not "necessary". You can print without pre-treatment, but the print will not be as sharp as when using pretreatment.

Quote:
NO CMYK colors will stick to pretreatment by themselves.
Nothing sticks to the pretreatment as it is water soluble and it is meant to be washed away. This is also why using too much pretreatment will cause poor washability.

The why:

Pretreatment is NOT a binder. What it does is gelling the ink upon contact, preventing bleeding into other colors, or sinking into the fabric.

Possible Washability problems caused by pretreatment:

1. Using too much or the wrong mix ratio when printing white/light garments.

2. Using too much of the correct mix ratio on any garment.
Don't take my word for it... Try it.
By the way, the maximum ratio for white/light garments is 30% pretreatment in 70% water, and 50/50 for dark.
