My WH3 was completely gone. I called. Had to verify I was still in warranty. 2 days later they show up and replace the head, nozzle damper thingy, some other stuff. They left me about $600 in misc inks. They guy also gave me "EPSON" diagnostics software the techs only get and tech manuals. The dude told me it was all worth about $2500 bucks.

Epson's Response time and customer service: FANTASTIC!

What bothers me though is that the tech didn't attempt to clear the head(maybe cause I explained I had done all I could do). He literally came in, ripped the "bad stuff" out and installed the new stuff. Great, faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaantastic. I'm not complaining to get new parts including a head. However, I really have done great maintenance upkeep and all that I can with this machine to make sure the head didn't get clogged. BUT IT DID anyway. How long will it be before we have to pay that $2500 out of pocket? That makes me nervous.

My point: I could have called EPSON asking them to change the head and they would have without any questions. I needed it, but if I didn't, I still could have gotten all the freebies and new print head anyway, just telling them I needed it. That sort of "waste" makes these parts and service expensive.

Bleh I don't know what I'm saying, just thankful I had the coverage and frustrated I'll be paying for it when it happens again.

i'm not familiar with the Epson F2000, but IF the inks run through dampers, then are you sure that the blockage is in the print head? i'm curious if new dampers would have fixed the problem.

The technicians do VERY little in the way of diagnosis and troubleshooting. They simply install the parts Epson sends and that's about it. Most the techs I have encountered from Epson are not as familiar with the F2000 as they are with other printers. At this time Epson doesn't allow users to buy and install dampers/printheads etc for the F2000 without having a tech do it
