Did you see what the cost was to print this? This will be important when comparing RIPS.

I did some test on the Epson F2000 (but pretty sure this would be true on all DTG machines, as got similar results on the Brother) using Gildan and another shirt that we get excellent results from ST 102 .

The Gildan Premium is one of the worst shirts to work with.

With the good shirts ST102 we can pre treat and then get a good white with 1440x1440 single pass, this means its fast and we use less ink.
On the Gildan we tried pre treat and then using 2880x1440 and even on 100% white (so not twice as much white ink) the results were still unacceptable.

We then tried the whole pre treat process twice on the Gildan shirt, pre treat - Heat press and the repeat this.
The results we got then were much better, but we still needed a 2880x1440 pass, ink back to around 75-80% (so 50% more white than the good shirt), it still wasn't as good, but acceptable.

I didn't wash test these, but it would come as no surprise if the Gildan didn't hold up well as that is normally the results of to much pre treatment.

Its a false economy working with cheap shirts, you will have a better product to seel and use less ink and pre treatment as well, so in total it can still cost you less to produce, plus its faster to produce, so you can print mode shirts per hour.

FYI, we got some new shirts from Gildan called softstyle (ringspun), these work much better, so its not all Gildan shirts. These are very new (at least in the UK).

Best regards

-David

From my experience on my tjet I get better results on the Gildan softstyle then the heavy weight or ultra cotton. Although here in the states the gildan isn't labeled ringspun anymore nor is it described that way. At least from my wholesale vendor. It was labeled ringspun at one point. Canvas brand ringspun is one of my favorites and not too expensive.

Wow, well this thread was going to be my "journal" but apparently everything I say is being censored. I've received 2 warnings and it's rediculous. So I guess this post was a waste. What's the point of having an open forum if you can't speak your mind?

Great POV. The ink savings from doing less pretreat and scrapping makes a shirt like 3001 look very affordable.

Do you really want to get into why your posts were moderated right here in the thread so it takes the thread even further off topic? I explained it to you pretty clearly, but if you think that "anything goes" in a professional online forum, then you may want to check the guidelines again.
