I see. Yeah the printer came with 2 cleaning cartridges. I guess the printer will prompt me once its time to use them.

Thanks

Jerid,
So the wasted ink ($126 approx per 30 days) is residual ink left in the tubes being purged during cleaning cycle, plus wastage for reprime of system after clean and cost of cleaning fluid as well.
How many flushes will the supplied cartridges yield in your estimation.
Just trying to plan re-order of consumables
Thanks for info

Sean

I believe you get about 3-4 tube flushings out of the cleaning cartridges.

Thanks for the info Jerid. I have to be honest. I bought this printer out right so that I didn't have to carry a monthly bill. I was told it was easy to maintain, but never told why it was easy. The reason is because Epson forces you to probably be OVERLY cautious with this monthly clean so you don't void your warranty. Not a knock on EPSON, but at the price I paid plus the monthly maintenance costs it's actually feeling more like a 26-30k printer.

Call me NAIVE, but now I'm wondering if I should have just bought the NEOFlex for 15k. I don't mind doing the labor since I do it myself and don't pay anyone to do the DTG.

Bleh..... How do I turn off the cleaning function when booting up?

Sorry, again I'm not in front of a printer, but here is where I mentioned it in another thread.

Here are the facts (I've stated this before, but anyone reading this thread should also know):

1) You must do a White Tube Wash when the system prompts you or you could (and most likely will) void your warranty (at least anything related to ink problems)
2) The occurrence is about once per month
3) The cost is approximately $126
4) Print 50 shirts a month, that's $2.50 additional per shirt, print 500 shirts per month, that's $0.25 additional per shirt.
5) Don't put white ink in the system until you can justify the volume for this expense. Use cleaning cartridges instead.
6) If you must have white ink, you want this printer and you don't have high volume, then price accordingly.
7) Every 1,000 - 1,500 prints you will have to replace the Head Maintenance Set. It's $95, so you will add, at the most, $0.10 per print, but there is no daily maintenance, so it could be considered an offset to the cost of labor.

The printer is quick, clean and high quality. The cost to run it is higher (at least in physical costs) than some of the other printers on the market, but the peace of mind and ease of use is worth quite a bit to some. So it's not for everyone, but armed with the proper information, you can strategize for success.
Hey Jerid,

I was wondering how did you calculate the costs to flush the ink system? How did you come up with $126 and what does the $126 include? Very curious in the math is all. Thanks!

Wondering why there's like 5 dealers and only 2 know about the machine. Makes you wonder sometimes who knows the machine

I had been asking EPSON how much ink is used in the cleanings etc and they told us they would let us know when they have all the numbers. They did in fact tell us later. From what I see from working with Epson, they are very consistent with their procedures. Once the information is available, it gets passed down to the dealers.

Ink used for cleaning flush and cost is on the epson Web site. Under professional imaging F2000 downloads then i believe it under a pdf called sales reference. The page is close to the end of document. Like Jerid i am not in front of the computer. The flush sequence is insert cleaning carts the the lines are washed then insert white ink carts to recharge system. The printer will prompt u through the entire process. There is also an option to flush cmyk. Should you be putting in storage. I don't know but i would suspect that the time between mandatory flushes will be extended in the future based on reliability. This is similar to what Roland did when they introduced white ink. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Totaly aggree, couple of drops of ink in the capping station pump and it pumps different ammount, couple of printer channels clogged different ammount used, atmospheric pressure change will get you another varible that will affect ink usage on cleanign cycles.

I agree but nothing is 100%. It all depends. But it is probably a reasonable representation and we will all be able to refine over time.
