The Chinese are selling a dtg printer based on 4900 head.

I appreciate your sharing of knowledge.

There is so little profit these days I wonder if machines likes the Mod1 are just a better investment.

Epson will actually warrant a printer for up to 5 years from sale.

The printer comes with a 1 year warranty, which includes coverage of the print head. One year Preferred Plus Service Plans can be purchased at any time while the printer is covered under warranty, up to a total of 5 years of coverage, again including the print head. Pricing is not yet available for these 1 year extensions, but will be soon.

@ksergentakis, Epson has such confidence in this printer, print head and ink that they will be on-site, next business day if you have a problem for up to 5 years. I don't think you need to worry about this being a "disaster".

It is important to note, that if you let your warranty lapse, there is no program to 'get back in' warranty coverage.

The maximum extended warranty coverage that you can purchase has not been finalized yet. At least 3 years.

Epson has determined that warranty structure will be up to 5 years.

Five years was a key milestone for them, as they realize that many machines will be financed through leasing companies. Epson wants to be able to offer machines that can be kept under warranty for the term of the loan.

More to come soon.

Thanks Bill for the correct info! I heard only 3 years, but if it's up to 5, I'm ok with that!

I heard same as Jerid. Well, all can be changed.. He won't deliver un trusty info by his 1st post in TSF.
Those 2 years are serious differences. Even most cars are 3-4 years except Hyundai and Kia 10years. 100000 miles. Lol.

I'm guessing the warranty is a limited warranty, otherwise I would never spend the time to clean anything and just get a new print head when it's shot. 5 yrs sounds great but isn't really covering everything or just the hardware.

After looking at there video of no wiper blade but a toilet paper type of roll to clean off print head, don't you think as you print overspray will be getting on that, so when wipes it's dirty, good idea but I think they need to adjust a little but,

The warranty, as I understand it, includes on site service within 24 hours (business days). If anything goes wrong, including print head related, it is covered, parts and labor.

Jerid addressed real good point.
Water Gate will be opened soon or later. Fresh water in old water out. Does six will make EPSON's big stomach full? It is your guess.
As Jerid said same is ideal but Different packages are inevitable for now.
Also, same is boring among competition.
I foresee, IMHO
Stahl will use Heat Press as tool. RIP? I have wild guess but premature to address here.
EZ will use pretreater as tool. Cadlink RIP
Belqute not sure except iProof RIP, Edge will need time to fit to Epson and price??
Auxium? No idea. They have been made strange moves recently. Drop Brother before Epson start to deliver is very hard to understand by me. Lost Ink business and more. Few months of gap can be critical to the business.
Lawson? Pretreat machine and which rip? Pretty sure either iProof or Cadlink.
AA? None. No! we have one TIGERS! LOL.
Cheers! All racers forward! Position! Gun shot will go off in short.

With regards to the wiping system, each time a wipe of the head is required, the fabric roll will advance to a clean piece of fabric so that the head is pristine each time.

After 1000-1500 shirts, this roll will have been used, and will need to be replaced as a part of the Maintenance Kit.

I understand that it will moves lightly but with dtg you always have that little overspray, so what stops it from not getting on the clean part of the rolls? I keep my machine pretty clean but there's still overspray I the area of home position of the carriage

Confirmed on the warranty for the Epson F2000. A one year warranty is included. You can purchase an additional extended warranty in one year segments up to an additional 4 years. So you could have up to a 5 year warranty on the printer.

I asked the same thing and I was told it won't be an issue...but only time will tell. Once there are many printers in the field that are using them in a production environment and not lab conditions things will come to light I am sure.

In inkjet technology, there is a spitting action that takes place every so many passes of the head. I haven't had a good opportunity to watch all motions of the printer yet, but there is an air filter inside most likely designed to keep the overspray down. We have one in our printer so that when the head spits, the fan draws it down into a filter so there isn't internal overspray. I'd assume this is similar on the F2000, but again, without actually watching the movements of the head, etc, I'm not quite 100% sure on it.
