Default Need Pretreat Help - White Ink is Spotty and Cracked

Good Morning Everyone,

I recently purchased a Neoflex system and so far everything's been great, until week two.

During the first week of production, my white ink was coming out very opaque and milky, and covering even black shirts great.

Toward the end of the week, designs have come out faded, speckled and spotty looking.

I only print white designs, and rarely use CMYK.

I think this is a pretreat issue, but I'm not 100%.

I use a Wagner spray gun to treat my shirts after they're ironed in my press. After applying an even coat I brush in downward strokes with a white nylon 2" brush from China to work the treatment into the fibers.

I used to cure my shirts at 330 for 30 seconds, plus 10 for any leftover spots at light/medium pressure. After watching some technique videos I started curing at 340 for about 60 seconds under heavy pressure.

Now it seems no matter how much or little pretreat I use, or the pressure of my press and duration of the cure, I keep getting the same terrible results.

I'm at a loss and have attached some pics of a white square I printed this morning on a black shirt.

Any help or advice would be most welcomed!

Are you heat pressing your pretreatment after you apply it and before you print?

I am pressing the treated shirt after treatment. Currently I'm pressing at 240 under light/medium pressure until the steam stops.

Are you using a cover sheet and what type?

Currently using tan colored silicone paper. I've also tried using a teflon sheet as well. Both seem to produce the same results after printing.

Press your pretreat at 330 degrees until dry at medium pressure. Make sure the cover sheet glides off the shirt after. If you have to tug at it then you are lifting off some pretreatment as well.

Try it also without using the brush.

Would teflon be preferable to cover the pretreated shirt with in this case since it won't stick regardless?

We don't recommend using a teflon sheet as a cover sheet because it will give a shine to the pretreat box which highlights it which is not what you want.

I have tried them all and I will only use firebird from now on. About 8 gallons of other pretreat sitting on the shelf I will never use. Just sprayed a couple hundred green tees with a Speedtreater and a couple dozen hats by hand and let them air dry. No staining and the white was out standing.

The mily white issue at first is a separation issue, make sure you agitate the inks before you print and test a print if you haven't printed for a day or so. If still a problem Try reducing the amount of white that is being laid down. FBX100 has been going very good with the white ink and, its seems you can reduce the amount of white ink underbase also
