Default Amount of white and durability of the print

Hi everybody,
I am still begginer in DTG printing, so I would like to ask you for your experiences with printing on white garmet.
Is there any linkage between amount of white used on underbase and durability of the print. I tested several prints and my ecperience is that when I print underbase 1440 x 1440 dpi => durability is better, than prints with 1440 x 720 dpi. With 1440 x 720 dpi it seems that prints looks "cracked" even after first wash.
