Default DIY DTG : :Ink advice needed

i would like to know which sort of ink as well as which brand of this ink would you recomend for use with a DIY DTG epson printer.

my main concern is will the ink clog the print head? is its consistency too thick?

will it easily leak ( more than usual for inkjet printers) and could it cause electrical problems?

Oldest and proven ink is DuPont ink.
Cheers! Inks are on me always.

im looking for a little more information than that. i read on the dupont page that there are different types of printhead viscosity. low, medium, and so on.

what i need to know is what kind of ink viscosity is suited for an epson C86 printer. it has only four inks.

I would be sure its low ink viscosity which the DuPont Artristri 5XXX series works best.

All EPSON modify printers are using 5000 series.
You have to buy from closest and lowest dealer. DuPont won't sell direct to you.
Poor ink will eat up Printhead much faster.
DuPont inks average head life with DuPont 5000 is 1.5-2.5 years on good care.
If you choose less quality ink = Printhead life short + dampers.
Cheers! Inks are on me always.

Not all use Dupont, and without one other brand (FIREBIRD), Dupont may not have a price today @ $149/Lt (in the US)

Lucky for those who are in the US because Dupont in Europe it is more than $230/Lt when the other brand is 40% less. (and they have the same transport cost...)

Yes and true. Qualities are different. You could put Chinese ink in your printer too but will mess up the head. Have you done a viscosity test with Firebird and DuPont?

I face ink cost and performance. I had to choose.
As I said I am in Europe.

For the price, I save more than a printhead cost.

Even more no real data have been given on the forum dupont vs firebird ink and printhead wore out.
And I think that would be useless, this is one year that firebird ink sell.

So far so good. We will see in the future, but maybe at that time, Dupont would be cheaper.

Chinese ink is an other story.

I don't blame you, Europe you do have to look at costs. Hopefully cost will be down soon. One thing I have noticed is that you can get good life out of the capping station if you clean with a toothbrush with FB and use Ammonia and Purified Water to flush down the station followed by solution. Sometimes FB cannot work in a machine so this is why Viscosity tests should be done just to see the thickness and see if it is good for the machine. How is FB working in your machine?
