We're looking to add a machine strictly for darks to accompany our GT and am afraid the 782 is going to be priced out of our price range not to mention they don't even know what the inks gonna be either.

Yep I know what you mean about the new brother Its pretty pricey. Also I think what alot of people don't think about with that machine, is that it will also require the same kind of maintenance.

All white ink is made with titanium dioxide, there for has the same properties as any white ink out there. It will require alot of machine cleaning, pretreatment and all the other things associated with it. I have heard that now that they are making the HM1 with the new WIM system that it has made it even better. I have the white ink agitator on my machine and its been fine for me. One day I may upgrade, but I have been going by the saying of if it aint broken why fix it I too have heard the ink for the brother is going to be pretty expensive.

I have noticed that after the first unveiling of the new brother, there has not been so much said about it, at least not any new information. I am curious to see what happens with it, once it gets out in the field to customers, and the feedback that will come in. That will be the true test of its viability and expense to run it.

the key to keeping the HM1 running perfect is simply proper maintenence. Proper head cleanings, and keeping the system constantly running has allowed us to get almost a whole year out of our print head. As long as we dont leave the printer sitting, and keep ink moving, and take regular care to clean the print head, check lines etc, the HM1 is a fantastic and amazing piece of equipment and we have had nothing but great responses from out customers with both color and white prints.
