Default DTG Kiosk II not printing correct colors

Hi All,

I would really appreciate any help. I changed from the regular ink to the new bright ink on the kiosk II machine. As soon as I did that, the Cyan is not printing well at all. Colors don't look right.

I did download the latest Rip software. I just don't know what else to do.

Thanks so much.

Hi nabs,

When you re-loaded the software did you select the SWF East/Colman and Company inks as your ink set? This will load the Bright inks profile.

Hope this helps!

Hi Don,

I did, we selected SWF East. Anything else it could be?

Couple of quick questions

1. What DTG do you have (Kiosk, K-2, HM-1, Bullet, Xpress)?
2. What software are you printing from?
3. Are your nozzle checks good?
4. When you say your colors are not right, can you be a bit more descriptive (too green, to blue, too yellow etc)?

Thanks

Hi Don,

I have the Kiosk 2. I tried printing from Photoshop and Corel.

We did test the nozzle checks and they came out fine.

When I printed a color chart, the magenta/reds came out too light. When I was trying to print GOLD, it was coming out more greenish/yellow.

I have a project to do with GOLD Lettering but it is coming out greenish/yellow. I tried in both corel and photoshop. I have done this same order before new inks and it came out great.

Thanks for the info - make sure that your Source profile is correctly set up in your RIP software. If you are printing in CMYK mode try switching to RGB and vice-versa. Have you contacted tech support about this? If you would like me to look at the file - email it to me at [email protected] (jpeg would be fine - size it down to keep it under 10 MB please). I've got to leave in about 10 minutes so I may not be able to get you an answer until the morning.

Thanks

Hi Don,

I tried all of your recommendations and nothing has helped. On Tuesday I sent you the file I was trying to print and the end result. I sent it to the email you gave me. If you can please take a look I would appreciate it.

Also, do you know of any technicians that come to the house? I am in Maryland, near the Montgomery County line. I really need this fixed asap. I have lots of jobs to do.

Thanks,
Nabs

Wink Re: DTG Kiosk II not printing correct colors

May I suggest another approach.
Sometimes the best way to get the color you expect is to print a color chart onto the substrate you are using. From there you can select the closest match and simply enter in the rgb/cmyk or hex value, whatever the chart list's. You can keep it around for future reference or for customers to select from.
It will guarantee WUSIWUG.

This is a very predictable method and can be used with any machine......even that cough, cough Kiosk.

Here is a link to some charts.

Okay, thought of something. What if the image has more then one color, you can't really use the hex# in that instance, can you?

If it's a vector then you should be able to select the entities separately, if it's a raster file then you can use the "color range" tool in PS to do the selection.

Here is another color chart you can use.
Belquette/color chart:
I will post more when I get some time.

Good luck!

Thank you Don and Belquette for your help, I really appreciate it.

I printed my gold design on a white shirt and it came out perfect. Don sent me a message telling me that he didn't think I had enough white ink on the dark blue shirt and that's why the yellow was coming out greenish. I think he is absolutely right. Tomorrow I'm going to try to print a better white layer.

I'm also still going to use the color chart to help me be more accurate with colors. Thanks for that info.
