Hello Harry,

I've been away for a few weeks and the machine is full of cleaning solution. I am going to try and get it going again this week. Do you stock parts for the HM1?

Thanks

Are you replacing your capping assembly?

I'm not sure as it was only fitted about 2 months ago. As the machine has been flushed the rectangular pads look really clean. I'm new to this and will probably know where i'm up to once I get ink in and try to print.

Thanks

OK, after 4 months of banding, poor ink laydown on white, and utter frustration in printing orders larger than one or two, I found this post. I replaced the capping station with one out of an old (but hardly used) Epson 2400, and rehosed the lines to the waste bottle, and guess what? It prints better than I have ever seen it! My HM1 CAN print nice shirts with terrific whites! Even if you get a perfect pattern (like I did), you could still need this item replaced... capping station, pump and wiper, that's the ticket!

Now I'm going to swap out the one in my Kiosk 2, it's NEVER printed a solid white that was usable.

THANKS HARRY!

How would you know when to replace the capping station?

cap stations need replacing when the rubber seal starts to perish. when the printer does a clean it doesn't get good suction to draw the ink through. Cleans are different to actual printing. when the heads are printing they use a voltage to fire the ink through the head, when you clean, the machine sucks a small amount of ink through the heads.

dont do a nozzle check right after a clean, let the heads sit for 10 minutes to let the ink settle a bit. dont worry that some nozzles aren't firing, a 100% good nozzle print is rare. as long as only a few bars are missing thats fine. its when you get misplaced bars and entire sections repeatedly not firing that you have an issue. if you have lots of bars that look jagged or are printed above and below the pattern, this is also a worry.

depending on use, cap stations last for about 6 months with decent use. always have another cap station in stock. as i learned!!!
