Although it is not specified in the judging criteria specifically, is color a criteria? Will a color key be made available if yes? Color is going to be a tough one if it is based on how a user sees it on the monitor. Two popular monitors (Dell and Samsung) display the image completely differently since monitor A very cool (bluish) and monitor B is more warm (yellow/red).

Yes, I think color accuracy would fall under print accuracy.

What do you mean by a color key?

Possibly Pantone colors so at least everyone would know what the target color for key parts of the image are?

Would the original coreldraw files have the color codes in it when you click on the different areas of the image?

Color chips from Pantone colors are readily available (for a nice chunk of change though) - Graphics - CMYK Coated & Uncoated.

The key argument with color is whether you want something to look good or do you want it to accurately represent the colors in the artwork. These are completely two different items in most cases. A lot of dtg users over saturate designs to make them pop more on a t-shirt. But it might not be accurately printed.

That will be something that the judgers will have to determine for themselves. Since the judging is done partly online, I don't think that it will be easy to tell if something was printed correctly. This is going to be a really tough one to judge accurately in my opinion.

I also included a JPG preview of both the front and back images in the entry files so the printers would have something to go by.

I'll check with James to see if he can outline the colors in the poster. I know the front design has the 4 pantone colors picked out because I remember approving them when the job got screen printed.

Rodney,

What items / factors are the people online suppose to be judging? I don't think color accuracy can be one of those unless you have a color chip next to each area of the artwork. I also don't think they can judge the hand of the item without touching them.

Just some things to consider.

They will judge as much as they can That's why I'll be doing the final judging since I'll have the prints in front of me.

I think they would judge the print similar to the way they'd judge a t-shirt they were considering buying online. Things like the if the t-shirt looks presentable (without pretreat stains), if the colors seem *way* off to the JPG images on the screen, if the registration seems to be way off, detail in the print, how the print looks after first wash, etc.

I'll leave that up to each printer, since the different machines have different max print sizes.

Vector files are included, so it could be printed as large as the printer would like. No smaller than 8.5 x 11 though.

Doesn't a standard size make more sense though? Even if it something like 10 x 12 which all machines should be able to print?

The hand for the shirts will be very different as a large print will have more expanses of heavy ink coverage vs a smaller print.

I don't think the print size will be something that would enter into the judging process for this contest.

The difference between an 8 x 10 or a 10 x 12 doesn't seem like it would change the hand of the print that much since it's the same design being printed by all.

The back image was designed as an 8.5 x 11 inch poster. If it's resized to 10 inches wide, it would be 12.94" high (can all DTG printers print that size)
