I am merely guessing here but looking at the video, I can see that your setup is not complete. So you probably don't have the PE sensor set correctly. In other words, the E-01 error is a paper jam error. For some reason it thinks it has a piece of paper stuck in the rollers when you first turn it on. In DTG speak, this means that you have your PE sensor set to the tray printing position.

I don't have this printer so I'm not sure exactly what the PE sensor looks like or where it is situated. I believe it might be on the back of the main board. It is most likely an optical sensor with a flag that breaks the optical beam when either a piece of paper is present or when it is not. It could be either one. If you get the error with nothing in the sensor, put something in the sensor and turn it on again to see if the error clears. If you are getting the error with the sensor flagged then remove the flag and try again.

Hope that makes sense,

Wade

Hello Mate,

This is a simple problem, it is not the PE sensor. If it was PE sensor when you start the printer the roller would spin very fast and then everything would stop, the head will not move across all the way etc.

This problem is the sensor you have left on the right hand side I can see in the video. It is small the small sensor on the black plastic strip, you need to place that back where it was.

If you read the earlier post what this sensor does is read the ink level. You can see in video at 45-48 seconds the carriage comes back to read the level but there is no sensor so just goes back. Normally it will pass over that sensor several times to read ink level.

Place that sensor back in line where it should be and you should be good to go Let me know if it works for you.

And I stuck again. wrrrrrr...

I don't have service manual.

Nie mam instrukcji serwisowej.

Are you getting the error on start up, or are you getting the error when you send a print job and I assume you have a printing plate which triggers the paper sensor.

If it is on start up does it change from 'no paper' to 'paper jam' randomly?

I have to finish the printing plate.
I have to find the optimum height of it.

I left original PE sensor shutter . I hope leaving the original one printing plate will push and unblock PE sensor.

I will finish the plate and write how it works ..

Can You show us any movie with your's XP-215?

My friend has actually taken my printer as he is testing some products to print. When I get it back I will try video or photos at least.

So you didn't answer if the error was when you start the printer, or when you send something to print? Does it just say paper jam or something when you start the printer? or after you have sent something to print.

By the way what are you thinking of printing with this? I'm not sure how garment ink will perform with this printhead, I was told certain eco-solvents will also burn my printhead tubes, and UV ink is out of the question it will melt internal tubes.

I would like to print on white t-shirt's. home/personal use.

Now, the printer shows an "no paper" when I send print job.

Im not sure how the PE sensor is working and when I have to obstruct and when not. . i tried a few combination to press by the finger, and every time there is an "no paper" error.

on the movie there is just temporary printing flat, just for test's

Not a big problem mate.

When it says no paper...you have triggered the sensor too early, or too late
When it says paper jam...the you left the sensor pushed back too long and it believes the paper is stuck hence the sensor is not closing.

I can see from your video you are triggering it too early. If you think about it when you print normally with paper if the printer misses the paper first time it does a second attempt to role in the paper again. See the video at 1:27-1:28 where you can see it is doing the second attempt, so obviously you have set it too early.

I suggest you copy my method to figure out when exactly the PE sensor should be triggered:

Place the printing plate about 5cm behind the PE sensor.
Mark a line to remember where you placed the printing plate.
Then send a print job.
If it says no paper - move the plate 1cm back and try again.
Keep moving it back 1cm until it prints, and keep marking your line too.

Mine triggers at 15cm. But my measurement is from the front end of the ink sensor, not the PE sensor.

Hope that helps.

Dawid, have you managed to find a RIP software for this printer?

I require it for mine but haven't had any luck finding one. Since you are printing on Tshirts I assume you will need it to adjust the ink density used etc.

Let me know if you have it.

Thank You.

I apologize for my late reply.

I didn't finish my printing plate yet but, I took your advice on temporary plat and I can see already that this will work.

About RIP sorry but I don't have any. I Think I can send printing Job, twice or even more times if print (on Tshirt) is not sufficiently intense.

seems a bit on the expensive side to me, but then again I have never used DTG so not sure of the price.

Let us know how it goes anyway, you may find when you insert the ink into refill cartridge first time the ink drips from head, happened with my eco-solvent ink, but don't worry its only few drops, I think it must be some air pressure as you put it back in the carriage.
