Default R3000 black color starvation always on the same vertical position

Hi Guys,

I have a diy R3000 dtg and on commercial use. About 2 weeks ago we started to have a weird problem.

After some time printing an image, the black ink head seems to not fire on an entire group of steps. It happens every time on the same Vertical position.

Do you guys have any idea how to fix that or what else it can be?

Someone knows how the printer reads its vertical position?

Image attached.

Tks!

I don't think it's starvation if it accurs everytime in the same place. There maybe a problem with encoder wheel.

BTW what kind of chip resetring solution are you using?

Also try printing on higher resolution and check if it will help. On higher resolutions starvation should not accur.

Where is the encoder wheel? Does it input the signal so the printer count the steps?

I have the same problem with blues, meanly darker ones.

And this problem uses to happen when there are big black or blue areas with the low color variation. Sometimes it appears in another shape, like dots, but they also appear on the same place and pattern on different printings.

The error pattern varies if I use bidirection or unidirection printing, but they look the same on each one of those.

For some reason, black just doesn´t fire on those places.
I cleaned the encoder stripe today and nothing changed.

I was printing in 1440x1440.
Tried 2880x1440 the problem ocurred but in different pattern.
Tried 5760x1440 it printed perfect (great details by the way) but for commercial use it take too long.

I also cleaned the wheel rule and the magnetic tape. After that the problem appeared again but on a little different pattern.

Any other idea?

It maybe encoder strip damage or faulty fcc to the printhead.
