in theory its possible but the thing where u will put the led curing unit on left and right side u cant put on the right side becoz of side metal and if u dnt put the sensors when u turn on the uv unit and turn off when it goes other way ur uv ink wil dry in capping unit and will give u alot of problems so actually out of 13 inch u will get 11 inches if u put the curing unit on left side need to be rethinking about this if u do this project share ur experince here will love to know ur work abot led uv printer and about the rip there are pleant rips avilable for uv printing i dnt remeber long a go i saw colorbyte rip is used alot with samll uv printer

I am also trying to figure out what UV LED light source I need to add to my flatbed to make this work...I dont want to use eco solvents since I'll be sitting right next to the machine all day...

I have been googling all kinds of terms for help on this. I joined the forum for this reason...Thanks in advance.

Anyone have a epson uv led curing ink printer?

I know you need 100 w module of leds, with 365 to 395 nm, 395 is cheaper, the module are no a 1 led only, have a 28, 30 or similar num of little leds in a area, 2w/cm2 irradiance, 3-10 mm of actuation separation... cooled, with air and disipator or water cooled.....

Thanks! I have been looking for UV LED systems to meet that requirement and I only seem to be finding a headache....HAHA I am curious if the direct jet uv flat bed printer uses an off the shelf uv led system that I could purchase...I tired to find replacement parts for it without any luck....

I used a 50w UV LED unit and a LED 50w Dimmable Driver (so I can adjust the brightness) on my converted DTG Epson R1900 printer with good results.

For the UV LED (I bought the 50w, but I only run it at around 20% with the drive unit):
Epistar 10W 20W 30W 50W 100W UV Ultra Violet LED Chip 390 405nm for Aquarium | eBay

For the Dimming Drive Unit:
Dimmerable 50W Watt LED Dimmable Driver Waterproof Dimmer | eBay

Then mounted a small fan and heatsink to the UV LDE Unit.
Dimmerable 50W Watt LED Dimmable Driver Waterproof Dimmer | eBay

Because I only run the UV LED at 20% there is not much heat from the unit.
I will upload some pics tomorrow.

These are the inks I use:
LED-UV Ink For Epson DX5/6/7 -?????????????????????????????????????????????

They are designed for the DX5 Print head.

You need to agitate the White Ink before printing because it separates.

Price for the ink is $50-$60 per Litre + shipping (+ country taxes if applicable)

I would make sure your system is fully working before buying the inks as it can get expensive to buy.

This ink can also eat your CISS pipes and containers, I found out the hard (messy) way.

If you are printing onto Glass, Metal or Acrylic you might need to pre-treat the material first. They say UV ink does not need pre-treatment, but I found it does on some materials.
I use Ethanol if you can find it, or something with 70% alcohol. They also sell a Metal/Glass pre-treatment liquid but not sure what it is.

Photos of the UV LED setup attached.
I used thin aluminium sheet metal to make the holder...probably not the neatest cutting and folding, but it does the job. There is not a lot of room to mount it to the ink carriage and you need to cut some sections out of the metal frame too.

When the cleaning process is happening, the ink carriage also moves up and down at the left hand side of the machine! You need to make sure there is enough gap above and below the UV LED unit to make sure it does not hit anything.

These photos are the remains of the CISS system I had...the UV LED ink started to melt the tubing and plastic. All the inner walls were destroyed and all the inks mixed together. The cartridges did not erode so I can use these again, it was just the container and pipes.

I am now making a new CISS using some better plastic bottles and silicone tubing, but have just installed some re-fill cartridges for now.

P.S. I painted the CISS unit black to prevent light from curing the ink.
