I am now making a new CISS using some better plastic bottles and silicone tubing, but have just installed some re-fill cartridges for now.

P.S. I painted the CISS unit black to prevent light from curing the ink.
What do they contain if they make ciss system melt?

Don't know what kind of inks he got, maybe chinese, but good quality UV inks do not contain solvents.

I'm not sure...but if you think about it, it needs to attach itself to the plastic (or whatever you are printing onto) so it needs to have some kind of solvent within the ink.

water is also a solvent Uv inks chemistry is complicated but the adhesion process is different like with solvent inks when it "eats" in to the substrate.

Did you change the print head adapter or to solvent resistant?

In terms of difficulty (compared to building a regular DTG printer for the first time), how hard is it to convert a printer to a UV printer? Is it just not worth it unless you have some considerable experience in building DTG printer?

If you have already built a DTG printer you should have the skills to add a UV LED unit. Have you had a look at my 2 videos on the previous pages?

I have also replaced the Capping Top because it started to perish, so it would not seal around the ink head to clean it. I'm not sure if it was just getting old or if the UV LED ink melted it.
Original epson capping lasts about 4 month with solvent inks. I converted couple epsons 10600 to eco-solvent with dx4 print heads. True solvent they melt within minutes.

Yeah I checked them out and thought it was neat for sure. Seems like UV printers though require a lot more than just taking apart and rebuilding printer. Trying not to melt print head with wrong inks and installing the LEDs just seems like slightly too much work. Love the idea but if i built one, i would want it to last. Hmm. I'll think on it but following this thread with interest.

Whatch for the capping station, especially pump system. It has tubing which reacts to solvent after some time. That's something I learned the hard way.
