Hi

last year I built a flatbed printer from a C88. It works, but the problem is that I could not keep the head cleaning mechanism. The ink ( water based ) dries in easily and I have to clean the head by forcing thru distilled water from a syringe. Even if I clean the head this way there are 2 problems: After a hundred pages or so the print quality goes down, it looks like head is partially clogged. I took apart 3 printers. Some of them have a leaking printhead. Could not figure out why. Some heads leak so badly, the ink starts dripping down after ever 15 seconds, and I had to put a piece of felt underneath the head to wipe the excess ink off.
My question is: did you manage to save the original head cleaning mechanism? The plans on the forum I used did not mention the thead cleaner. The plans on samzu website include the head cleaner. I think without cleaner mechanism the printer won't las long ...

you are correct, you must have the head cleaning unit (capping station) without it the printer is doomed from the start and the printhead wont last long... keep it in tact and you will be fine...

Very, very good job! Congratulations!!

I wonder how you will control "Z" (the stepper motor). You will place barrier sensors for detecting the height of the material?

Hey men I am also starting to mod an R2000 printer. I just started disassembling it and would like to know if you have the r2000 service manual. If you do, and you don't mind, please PM it to me.

Thanks.
